Volunteers vs. 49ers NCAA Hoops Pick / Gambling Preview (Dec. 17)

NCAA Basketball Betting – Vols Look To Bounce Back At Charlotte

Before College Football Gambling fans turn their attention to other sports betting events this week, we have a Wednesday NCAA game of the day pick for you. It’s time for our weekly basketball picks for online ncaa hoops betting action.

Those who bet on NCAA football will kick off bowl season on Saturday, but on Friday, they can get into some NCAA basketball betting action beginning with Tennessee, who were upset after a top-five win, and they should come out with some fire when they travel to Charlotte.

Tennessee Charlotte Betting – Friday, 8:00 PM ET

The No.7 Volunteers (7-1) were brought back down to earth after beating Pittsburgh in what was essentially a road game, as they were knocked off 89-82 at home by Oakland. Brian Williams had 18 points and 13 boards, while Melvin Goins added another 18 points for the Volunteers, who hit just four of their 18 three-point attempts. After going for 27 points in the win over Pitt, Scotty Hopson was 1-of-7 from the floor for seven points in his worst game of the season. The Volunteers shot 44.4% from the floor while allowing Oakland to shoot 53.6%, and this was a clear case of one team underestimating another, when they should have known that Oakland almost beat Michigan State in their previous game.

Those checking out NBA betting odds may not be too familiar with the 49ers (4-6), who fell 82-68 at Davidson in their last game. Derrio Green was the high man with 16 points, while Chris Braswell added 15 points and Javarris Bennett chipped in with 14 for the 49ers, who shot just 38.9% from the field, and hit just eight of their 22 attempts from long range. It has been an up and down start to the season for the 49ers, and this will be, by far, their biggest test before they kick off the Atlantic 10 portion of their schedule. The season may get even worse as leading scorer Shamari Spears was kicked off the team for another violation of team rules.

Betting services should have the Volunteers as a heavy NCAA basketball betting favorite on the road in their fourth meeting with the 49ers, who are actually 3-1 SU and ATS against Tennessee since 1995. The Vols beat Charlotte 88-71 at home last year, and the beatdown will be worse this year as Tennessee will be bitter after losing at home to Oakland, and the 49ers are, to be quite frank, not very good. They weren’t very good with Spears, and now they have to find a way to replace his scoring. The 49ers are going to have to stay alive on the boards to have any chance in this game, as Tennessee is 19th in rebounding, while Charlotte is 166th. It’s not looking very good for Charlotte as Tennessee should roll to an easy win, and they should be able to cover the sports betting spread in this game as well.
