If there is a team hotter team than the Kentucky Wildcats right now I would like to see them.  Of all the teams that have made it to the Final Four they may have had the toughest road having to beat both the #1 Ohio State and #2  North Carolina in the East region to make it this far.  As a result of their sublime play they find themselves favoured against the equally sizzling Connecticut Huskies and with good reason.

The Wildcats are a much deeper team with several different scoring options but more importantly their defense of late leads me to believe that they might be able to put the clamps on the dynamic Kemba Walker.  The really interesting thing is that Kentucky lost to UConn very early this season in a game that Walker dominated with 27 points.  But nobody seems to think a repeat of that or the miserable performance by opposite point guard Brandin Knight is going to happen again this time around.

There is no doubt that UConn is on a roll but the games just keep getting closer.  In fact it doesn’t get much closer than their 2 pointer against Arizona in the Elite Eight.  Walker continues to shine but I must admit I am a little surprised with how team’s have defended him in the tournament.

I think Kentucky is going to put the very quick and very long DeAndre Liggins on him and I think that will make it very tough for him.  So who is going to step up and score if Walker is all bottled up?  I don’t have a great answer for that as Jeremy Lamb, who is a great shooter, has been benefiting from all the open looks Walker creates.  He won’t see those if Walker is handled one on one.

Coach Calhoun and Coach Calipari dont like each other but in this matchup I think that Calhoun has less options to counter with and he won’t be able to bully the Wildcats inside.

Betting Trends:

KENTY are 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 vs. Big East.
UCONN are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
Over is 9-4 in UCONN last 13 NCAA Tournament games.

Predictions: UConn is not going to make it this far and have it handed to them but I think the Kentucky victory will be easy by comparison to others.

Score: Kentucky 74 – Connecticut 68
