Wildcats vs Buffaloes CBB Basketball Spread/Handicapping

Arizona escaped their matchup against Colorado in their PAC 12 opener due to a controversial call so there may be more juice to this one than normally expected.

Arizona

The Wildcats are in a three way tie at the top of the conference right now so any losses are critical, although this one would not be a big shocker to me.

The question is whether they are mentally ready, especially given the cakewalk that Utah  should be on the weekend.

The Wildcats are a good road team, no surprise given their top players are all very experienced.  Guard Mark Lyons has been inching up his scoring as the season goes.  They are relying on him to take most of the big shots.

This is a double edged sword because as good as he is he is not “that” good.  For this team to reach its goals and expectations its needs forward Solomon Hill to step up.  He is not even leading the team in rebounding, Brandon Ashley, a 6’8 frosh averaging 10 less minutes less is.

No one is making any money backing the Wildcats.

After two straight losses they are 10-11 ATS.  They are in a dangerous spot in this one as their opponent needs the win more than they do and has previously show they can push Arizona hard.

As a short fave there is good value but I don’t like the situation.

Colorado

The Buffs are teetering on the tournament bubble right now with only a few more conference games to make their case.  This is their best chance against a ranked team they almost beat to start their PAC 12 season – Arizona. [ad-6571516]

They have to close out the season strong starting with this one or else it will be a disappointment.  At home they have lost just once this season and the environment gets rocking.

The Buffaloes biggest problem isn’t talent, it is consistency.  They have an unusual lineup where there big guard runs the point, their fast guard is their gunner and a 6’7” pogo stick leads in rebounding.

Even when this team is playing well it seems to lack a defined system which is maybe why when things come off the rails they have such a hard time getting back.  Still talent is talent and there is more in Boulder than you probably realize.

Colorado has been the opposite of the Wildcats – a solid moneymaker at 13-8 ATS.  Last weekend they hit the and covered at both Oregon schools, winning twice outright as underdogs.

Can they do it a third straight time against Arizona in a game that could put them into the playoff picture.

I like their chances.
