The ACC Tournament continues Friday with a great slate of games. One of the standout matchups include top-seed North Carolina against Miami.

North Carolina (24-6, 15-12 ATS) enjoyed a first-round bye in the tournament. The biggest hope is the team hasn’t lost any of its momentum. The Tar Heels were cruising over the past month or so, going 12-1 over their past 13 games—including an 81-67 romp over Duke in the regular-season finale. North Carolina has been almost as good against the spread, going 10-3 ATS in that span. For the moment, UNC looks unstoppable.

The Tar Heels became a much more credible threat once they turned the offense over to freshman Kendall Marshall. The guard earned his first start on Jan. 18 against Clemson—exactly when UNC’s 12-1 run began. Marshall has looked especially sharp during the current seven-game winning streak, averaging 10.1 points and 7.4 assists per game. He was exceptional in the win over Duke, racking up 15 points and 11 assists.

Miami (19-13, 13-13-1 ATS) advanced through the first round after beating Virginia 69-62 in overtime. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

With the win, the Hurricanes continued their streak of .500 basketball; the ‘Canes have rotated between wins and losses in nine straight games now, going 5-4 in the process. Miami has actually been slightly more reliable against the spread—though not much—by going 3-1-1 ATS in its last five games (the Hurricanes were 3.5-point favorites over Virginia).

The Hurricanes’ win over Virginia was nothing short of magnificent. Miami trailed by 10 points with 42 seconds left, but a series of clutch shots (and missed opportunities by the Cavaliers) allowed the ‘Canes to send it to overtime. Guard Malcolm Grant, the team’s leading scorer, came through with 16 points and seven assists.

Though Miami’s come-from-behind victory was inspiring, the run is about to come to an abrupt end. The Tar Heels have been one of the best team’s in the country for months now, and they have their eyes set on a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. Winning the ACC crown will go a long way to accomplishing that. Take UNC in a romp.
