Villanova Wildcats Predictions: 2010 CBB Future Lines

Quick article by The Wiesguy detailing the Villanova Wildcats 2010 Season win total odds for over under NCAA Basketball betting futures and a season wins prediction…

NCAA Basketball Season Preview:  Villanova Wildcats (Big East)

Hey there folks. NCAA Basketball gambling season is right around the corner and we’ve got your back with tons of great college basketball handicapping articles to help you become the best basketball betting expert on your block in the 2010/11 NCAA Hoops season and beyond.

Villanova can expect another very good season despite the loss of all everything guard Scottie Reynolds.  Without him they still have a solid core with Corey Fisher, Corey Stokes and Antonio Pena.  That is a nice senior troika who has seen a lot of success in their career, in part due to Reynolds uncanny shotmaking.

The Wildcats also have a nice wave of youngsters that provide energy and talent to the mix.  Maalik Wayns should bump up to a double digit scorer with Reynolds gone and Mouphtaou Yarou has shown the potential to be one of the best bigs in the Big East.  A familiar face may have left but the winning is still in good hands for Nova.

This is easily a Sweet Sixteen club.

Additions

Jayvaughn Pinkston – Already has the body for the conference and will be able to work his way in gradually even though he is highly touted.
James Bell – Another frosh physically ready to contribute on the wings.  Villanova always gets a lot from their tough shooting guards.

Subtractions

Scottie Reynolds – Is the second leading scorer in Wildcat history and was even more valuable than his stats.
Taylor King – Former Blue Devil contributed but then walked away unexpectedly
Reggie Reading – Reliable player who contributed within the system.

Key Players

Corey Fisher – Had his best year yet as a junior, now they are going to need him to take some of the big shots Reynolds used to.
Corey Stokes – Stokes came to college with an NBA body now he needs to start showing he has the game to match.
Mouphtaou Yarou – Can be the best big they have had in the Jay Wright era…better than Dante Cunningham.

Surprising Stat – The Wildcats were fourth in the Big East in rebounding margin last year despite not having a single player over 6’7″ average more than 15 minutes per game.  Jay Wright has instilled a great hunger in his guys to go after the rock.

Strengths Villanova boasts one of the deepest backcourts in the nation.  The two Coreys are backed by Maalik Wayns and Dominic Cheek who provide additional offensive and defensive pressure.  They sometimes even go small playing them all together making it a nightmare for opponents to defend.

Weaknesses – All of their bigs play tough but they don’t have a ton of depth.  Teams are always trying to take advantage of the fact that the Wildcats prefer to play a little small but all you have to do is look at their record to see how successful teams have been at utilizing this strategy.

Post Season This team is built to go far in the tournament.  The key is who they face as there are few who have more talent..

Championship Odds 20/1

Projected wins 26-28
