2010-11 College basketball predictions and season PREVIEW from The Wiesguy! Here’s a comprehensive handicapping list of the top teams to bet on as we head into NCAA basketball season…

NCAA Basketball Top Ten Preview

Hey there folks. NCAA Basketball gambling season is right around the corner and we’ve got your back with tons of great college hoops handicapping articles to help you become the best basketball gambling expert on your block in 2010 and beyond.

Midnight Madness is almost upon us and with it the start of another exciting college basketball season.  Some may think the one and done phenomena is killing the game but I disagree.  Kentucky had a great team last year but they didn’t win it all and the top team on my list this year features odd commodities – seniors.

Freshman today have more of an impact than ever before but if memory serves we are still looking back to ‘Melo for one that took his team all the way.

LOOKING FOR THE BEST CBB CAPPERS ON THE WEB? WE’VE GOT YOUR BACK —–>

Here is a quick primer of my top teams in the land this season.  I hope the presence and or absence of a couple will invite comment (I am looking at you Butler fans)

Top Teams To Bet CBB Futures Odds On!

Purdue Boliermakers – Fab frosh are great but do you you think coach Matt Painter would trade the trio of JaJuan Johnson, Robbie Hummel and E’Twaun Moore for a bunch of wunderkind.  As long as Hummerl stays healthy this is the best team in the land.

Duke Blue Devils – The defending champs lost their glue in Jon Scheyer but they have enough returning and incoming talent to stay at the top of the polls.  This team has great balance and should be a little bit deeper than some of those of recent vintage.

Michigan State Spartans – With Izzo still in place the Spartans are ready to continue their run of recent dominance (6 Final Fours in last 12 years).  The key will be how Kalin Lucas returns from injuries.  If he doesn’t miss a beat they probably have the best backcourt in the nation.

Villanova Wildcats – You are not supposed to be better after losing an all everything player like Scottie Reynolds but Villanova returns a slew of other key players and will be dominating again in a Big East that won’t be as beastly as it has been in the past.  They have lots of guys to pick up the slack.

Kansas State Wildcats – K-State fans have to be wondering if lightning can indeed strike twice.  Well it helps if you have the most clutch player in the land in Jacob Pullen leading the way.  The Beard is joined by a super deep frontcourt and for once the best team in the state calls Manhattan home.  Who would have thunk.

Illinois Fighting Illini – This could be a banner year for the Big Ten.  Illinois like Purdue is helped by the return of three seniors.  Demetri McCamey, Mike Davis and Mike Tisdale are not as good as the Boilermaker troika but are plenty good to challenge the top teams in the conference and across the nation.

Pittsburgh Panthers – This team has great expectations because so many of its players are good but have room to grow.  Gilbert Brown looks like a future conference scoring leader and freshman point Isaiah Epps is the perfect pass first guard to make everybody on this good team better.

Florida Gators – The Gators return all five starters from last year and they should all improve.  Kenny Boynton may never see a shot he doesn’t think he can make but now that they have figured out how to use point forward Chandler Parsons they can create some great mismatches.  Vernon Maclin is willing to do the dirty work.

North Carolina Tar Heels – UNC can’t possibly have as bad a season as they did last year can they.  My bet is not but I am banking on frosh Harrison Barnes being as good as advertised to place them here.  This team had more talent than most teams last year but it didn’t come together.  I think Roy Williams will have them back on track this year.

Kentucky Wildcats   – This year’s batch of recruits may not be as good as last year’s but nobody gets more out of freshman than Coach Cal.  These guys are my wildcard because you wouldn’t think a team could lose so much talent and just reload but it might happen.

I think they will be up and down throughout the season but in a one and done talent can reign supreme.
