Defeating San Antonio by 30 points the other night exorcised a lot of demons, but Miami’s 6-point win over the Lakers unveiled a lot more about the Heat. At least Miami fans hope so.

Every game they played the TV graphics were damning, showing Miami’s inability to win close games and pathetic record against good teams. The Heat were compared to schoolyard toughs who beat up weaker kids but couldn’t get the job done against decent teams. The Lakers game may not have ended the talk – only a title will do that – but the pressure is off a bit as the heat wind things up in the regular season and get ready for the playoffs. Three more difficult games (tonight vs. Oklahoma City, at Atlanta and home vs. Denver) remain before the schedule becomes relatively soft down the stretch. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Miami started slow, beat up a bunch of bad teams in mid-season, hit another low and now has started to beat good teams. Consistent only in its inconsistency. At least the Heat are relatively healthy. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have missed only a few games all season, LeBron James has played them all, and Miami might get forward Udonis Haslem back early in April.

Regardless of what happens from here on out, there will be questions about the Heat until at least the second round of the playoffs, when they will take on one of the top teams in the East. Until then, we’ll won’t know what the Heat are all about.

NBA Trends:

Over is 16-6 in OKC last 22 Wed. games.
Over is 10-3 in MIA last 13 vs. Western Conference.
Over is 37-15-1 in MIA last 53 vs. NBA Northwest.
MIA are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Road team is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings.
Over is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings.

BEST BET: The Thunder are finishing the season on a high—they have won seven of their last eight and four in a row, and now will spend the rest of the season getting Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook ready for the playoffs, and assimilating Kendrick Perkins into the lineup.

With Perkins on board OKC will be a better team defensively, and it never hurts to have someone on the roster who owns a championship ring.

Play here is OKC +7.
