NBA odds: Blazers’ offense will buzzsaw through Pacers

Team records:
Indiana: 20-40 SU, 26-33-1 ATS
Portland: 36-27 SU, 35-27-1 ATS

Portland’s offense is firing on all cylinders right now, which could be trouble for the defensively impaired Pacers. The Trailblazers are nine-point favorites on Wednesday’s NBA odds; here’s a breakdown of what you need to know for the game.

Matchup: Pacers at Trailblazers
Time: 10:00 p.m. ET
Venue: The Rose Garden
Spread: Portland -9
Over/Under: 201.5

After topping Memphis 103-93 on Monday, Portland (36-27, 35-27-1 ATS) has won four of its last five games both straight up and against the spread. The Blazers have been solid on NBA odds in recent weeks, going 6-4 against the spread in their last 10 outings. The Rose Garden hasn’t been as kind to the Blazers as one might hope; the team is 1-4 against the spread in its last five games in Portland.

The recent winning streak can largely be attributed to a rolling offense. Portland is averaging 105.4 points per game in its last five games, and it hasn’t all been Brandon Roy. LaMarcus Aldridge continues playing well and busted out a 32-point, seven-rebound effort against the Bulls. Nicholas Batum, who’s averaging just 23 minutes per game on the year, exploded for 31 points and seven boards two games ago against Minnesota. He followed that up with another 21 in Monday’s win over the Grizzlies. Of course, Roy remains the star of the team and the offense’s main catalyst.

Indiana (20-40, 26-33-1 ATS) is headed in the opposite direction. Tuesday’s crushing 122-99 loss to the Lakers was the team’s fourth defeat in five games, not to mention just two wins in the past 10 games. The Pacers have been only slightly more reliable against the spread, going 4-5-1 in their past 10 games. Not surprisingly, Indiana has struggled to get the job done on the road, covering just two of its last seven games against NBA odds. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Defensively, the Pacers are a train wreck. They’re allowing 104.3 points per game, good for 24th in the NBA, and have surrendered an inexcusable 114 per game in their past three losses. At the other end of the floor, Indiana doesn’t have the talent to counteract its shortcomings on “D.” Danny Granger (22.7 points, 5.8 rebounds per game) is the team’s best player but he can’t do it alone. He was severely limited in the Lakers loss, scoring just nine points on 2-9 shooting.

Portland and Indiana met in early December, with the Blazers earning a 102-91 victory. Roy was naturally brilliant, scoring 29 points. The Trailblazers have won three straight against Indiana while covering the past two.

Pacers vs. Trail Blazers Free PICK

Indiana is playing some of its worst basketball of the season right now. Hitting the road against a team firing on all cylinders? The Pacers don’t have a hope, especially with their lacklustre “D” trying to slow down Roy and Co.

Bet on Portland to take care of business.
