The American Airlines Center has been a difficult place to play for visitors this season, but the Raptors may get a warm welcome as they see two familiar faces there in Jose Calderon and Vince Carter.

The Mavericks have been terrific at home this season, posting an 11-2 record at the American Airlines Center this year. Their most recent win came there in a 105-91 triumph over Memphis.

The team shot lights out in that game, hitting on 55 percent of their shots from the field and 87 percent of their shots from the charity stripe.

Star forward Dirk Nowitzki played only 27 minutes as he gets reincorporated back into the lineup but put together a full stat line with a team high 20 points on 9 of 15 shooting, adding six rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block. Monta Ellis was next best in the scoring department with 18 points, adding four assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

Guard Vince Carter put on his distributor hat and led the team with six assists, adding 14 points and four boards.

At the other end, the Mavericks limited the Grizzlies to 40 percent shooting from the field. That’s the positive, but the Grizzlies also hit on 44 percent of their shots from beyond the arc and compiled 22 offensive rebounds, both numbers that will require some work.

Toronto’s last game didn’t have the same happy ending that Dallas’s game did, as theirs ended in heartbreak in a 104-102 overtime loss to Charlotte.

The Raptors were able to hang around despite their offense never really getting out of first gear. The team shot just 43 percent from the field and just 23 percent from three, also hitting on just 70 percent of their free throws.

Guard DeMar DeRozan was the only player to really get going, leading the team with 30 points on 11 of 28 shooting, adding six boards. Next best on the team was point guard Kyle Lowry who had 17 points and chipped in six dimes.

Amir Johnson continues his strong play after asking to go to the bench and eventually reclaiming his starting role, filling up the stat sheet with 10 points, 13 boards, four assists, two steals, and a block.

The Mavericks have one of the worst home-road splits in basketball this season, but that helps them to get value when they’re on the favorable side of that split, and with this game getting played in Dallas, and Toronto coming back down to Earth after their post-Rudy Gay trade swoon, the side to ride with in this one is an easy one to pick.

The play: Dallas -6
