ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

It wasn’t that long ago, just over a week, that Raptors fans had to be concerned that they could be without point guard Kyle Lowry for an extended period after he was knocked out of the team’s game against Phoenix after having his head banged against the court by the Suns’ P.J. Tucker.

Lowry would go on to suit up in the team’s next game and play 41 minutes, and wouldn’t end up needing to miss any time. That’s been great news for the Raptors as Lowry has been great of late.

He has scored 20 or more points in his last six games, and has no fewer than 19 points in his last nine games.

Lowry’s month of March has been spectacular, as he’s posted averages of 20.7 points, 7.8 assists, 5.9 rebounds, 2.6 three-pointers, and 1.8 steals, while hitting on 40.3 percent of his three-pointers.

His most noteworthy performance came in the team’s last game, a come from behind win over Atlanta.

In that game, Lowry hit on 9-of-17 shots from the field for 25 points with four steals, including a crucial steal in the late going that led to two easy points the other way, then a dagger three with the clock ticking down to clinch a 96-86 win over the Hawks.

As for the Cavaliers, they’ve been floundering without star point guard Kyrie Irving.

He’s missed the team’s last four games and is expected out another week. Jarrett Jack put the team on his shoulders in their last outing, putting up a season-high 31 points and chipping in 10 assists to help the Cavaliers end a four-game losing skid with a 106-100 win over the New York Knicks.

The Raptors are the team in better form entering this matchup, and while the Cavaliers appear to have packed things up for the year, Toronto needs all the wins they can get as they jockey for playoff positioning. The total also seems high given the recent results when these teams have faced off with one another.

The Raptors are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings between these teams in Cleveland, and are 18-7 ATS in their last 25 road games overall.

The under is 14-5 in Cleveland’s last 19 games against Eastern Conference opponents, and 21-5-1 in Toronto’s last 27 games against opponents with a losing record.

The under is 8-1 in the last nine meetings between these teams.

The play: Toronto -4, Under 196
