1. LA Lakers– Even since Bynum went down with his knee injury this team has been playing unbelievable. Kobe and Gasol have picked up there scoring and are leading there team to huge wins. Sweeping both the Cavs and Celtics the Lakers have sent a statement to everybody that they are focused on winning every night out.

2. San Antonio Spurs– Moved in front of Boston by way of the road win at the Celtics before the all star break. The big three as always are so consistent and come to play every game. The difference though in this years team is there young role players Mason, Bonner, and Hill. All three have come up big at key times in big games.

3. Boston Celtics- For the most part have played very well in the year of there title defense. But do no have a good record against the top teams in Craig’s top 5 power rankings. Against the average NBA teams the Celtics have really played well. Danny Ainge will have to get this team help in a trade if he wants to win it all again.

4. Cleveland Cavaliers– Disappointing loss to LA and Orlando before the all star break has this team down 2 spots in Craig’s power rankings. Lebron has been great all year but will need to continue to carry his team. Moe Williams has been a great addition for Lebron and company and if he continues playing like he did in the first half you might see this team in the Finals.

5. Denver Nuggets– Denver gets into the first spot due to the injury on Orlando. Billups and Anthony are playing together both healthy and they are very dangerous team. Billups has helped Denver move up 10 places since arriving in Denver. 2nd best record in West shows how good this team really is.
