TNT gives us one last bite of the regular season apple before the league’s best players and their entourages head for All-Star weekend, and the opening of tonight’s twinbill provides a look at two teams which have been major surprises in their conferences.

San Antonio figured to do a quiet fade this season, maybe snag the 5th or 6th Western Conference playoff seed and exit quietly in the first or second round. Instead, the Spurs have the best record in the league (46-9) by a wide margin, and will be able to rest veterans down the stretch and still have home-court edge throughout the playoffs.

And Chicago (37-16) has methodically clawed itself into the Eastern Conference conversation, putting together 6 winning streak of 3 or more games and elbowing its way to near the top of the conference while attention has been focused on Miami, Boston and (to a lesser extent) Orlando. Derrick Rose has an outside shot at the MVP Award if LeBron James fades a bit down the stretch. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

The Bulls have been damn near impossible to beat at home (24-4), a record that is all the more impressive because it has been accomplished despite the team missing forward Carlos Boozer and center Joakim Noah for good parts of the season. Boozer is a solid 19.5/10 guy, and Noah has been practicing and should be back for the final 20 games of the season, plus what could be a very interesting playoff run. And new coach Tom Thibodeau has instilled a defensive toughness in the Bulls, who were 13th in the league last season and are 2nd this year.

Trends:

SA are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. NBA Central.
SA are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall.
Under is 14-6 in SA last 20 overall.
CHI are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
Over is 6-2 in CHI last 8 overall.
Under is 6-2 in CHI last 8 vs. NBA Southwest.
Under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Chicago.
SA are 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Chicago.

TNT Best bets: This is the final game of a long road trip for the Spurs, who are 6-2 in that stretch. Both teams figure to lock down defensively, so the under at 189.5 would deserve a long look.

Exactly the opposite in the second game, where 208 seems easily attainable for two teams capable of high scoring.
