CLIPPERS vs. NUGGETS

Time: Thursday 10:30 ET
Venue: Pepsi Center, Cleveland
Spread: Nuggets -9.5
Over/Under: 210

Speaking of nasty road trips, the Clippers start an 8-game swing in Denver, and it’s a pretty good bet that any momentum the Clips have built at home will wilt as they move away from the Staples Center. LAC is 5-13 on the road, with its only decent road victory at Oklahoma City.

Blake Griffin is cooked for the season, and that’s a dagger, but the Clippers do have some decent players – all five starters (Chris Kaman, Eric Gordon, Baron Davis, Al Thornton and Rasual Butler) are averaging in double figures.

LA does own a home victory over the Nuggets, though that could serve as motivation for the Nuggets, who are trying to keep Portland, Oklahoma City and Utah at arm’s length in the Northwest Division.

Betting Trends:

The total has gone OVER in 5 of the LA Clippers last 5 games on the road
The total has gone UNDER in 12 of the LA Clippers last 17 games when playing Denver
LA Clippers are 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games when playing Denver
LA Clippers are 2-4 SU in their last 6 games
Denver is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home
Denver is 5-0 SU in their last 5 games when playing at home against LA Clippers
Denver is 7-1 SU in their last 8 games when playing LA Clippers
Denver is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games

THURSDAY NIGHT BEST NBA PARLAY BET:

The Clippers’ No. 1 priority is tightening up defensively as they scratch and claw their way toward the NBA’s middle class, but rarely do they hold a decent opponent under 110 points away from home. It’s worth looking at the under on Lakers-Cavs and the over on Clippers-Nuggets.

After covering the over just 35 times last season, the Cavs have been trending over more this year, especially lately. But with this being the first of 5 road games in 7 days, there’s no way the Lakers want to get into a track meet – they’d prefer to control tempo and force Cleveland’s front line to work a bit.
