NBA odds: Hawks looking to continue dominance over Wizards

Team records:
Atlanta: 40-23 SU, 36-27 ATS
Washington: 21-40 SU, 26-35 ATS

Atlanta has owned Washington over the past few seasons but both teams are enduring losing streaks at the moment. Something has to give; can the underdog Wizards steal at win at home?

Matchup: Hawks at Wizards

Time: 7:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Verizon Center
Spread: Hawks -7
Over/Under: 195

Atlanta (40-23, 36-27 ATS) has lost two straight games after falling to the Knicks 99-98 on Monday. The skid has halted momentum from a recent four-game winning streak. Results have been just as bad at the sportsbook, as the Hawks have dropped four consecutive games on NBA odds. Atlanta is 3-7 against the spread in its last 10 games and 4-6 ATS in its past 10 at home.

Until recently, the Hawks offense had been on fire. During the four-game winning streak, Atlanta averaged 115.2 points per game. That total dropped to 95.5 during the two-game skid, however. Normally, Atlanta can count on a bevy of scorers to deliver offense; Joe Johnson (21.5 PPG) and Jamal Crawford (17.3 PPG) top the scoresheet, while Josh Smith is third at 16.0 points per game. Lately, though, there hasn’t been enough. At least the “D” has delivered during the losing streak, holding opponents to 99.5 points per outing.

Washington (21-40, 26-35 ATS) is also struggling. The Wizards have gone four games without a win. They dropped a 96-88 decision to Houston on Tuesday, which was their third loss in four games against the spread. Washington has fared even worse at home, losing four straight games both straight up and against the spread at the Verizon Center.

If the Hawks offense has been slow, the Wizards’ has been glacial. Washington has managed just 83 points per game in its last four outings. Thanks to trades and injuries, the cupboard is pretty bare, and players like JaVale McGee, Andray Blatche and Nick Young regularly top the scoresheet. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

They’ve enjoyed some solid play, but it’s a far cry from Gilbert Arenas and Antwan Jamison in their primes. At the other end of the floor the “D” has bee more than solid lately, allowing just 96 points per game during the losing streak.

Atlanta has already won both its match ups with Washington this season. It extended a dominant run, as the Hawks are 8-2 straight up and 7-3 against the spread in their past 10 games with the Wizards.

Hawks vs. Wizards Free PICK

Both teams are struggling, but Atlanta is just going through a funk—Washington is truly bad. Look for the Hawks to open up the offense and continue their dominance over Washington.
