NBA Betting – Thunder vs. Nets (Jan. 12)

Free pick and preview plus NBA betting odds and basketball lines for the matchup featuring the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New Jersey Nets…

NBA Action – Nets host Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder (6-32 SU, 24-14 ATS, 19-19 O/U) picked up a solid victory in their last outing and have covered the spread for BetUS NBA sports betting backers in two straight games and six of their last seven overall. The New Jersey Nets (18-19 SU, 21-16 ATS, 19-18 O/U) had their modest two-game winning streak snapped the last time they took the floor, but have covered the spread in five straight games. Tonight, both teams will look to extend their winning ways when they meet at the Izod Center in New Jersey.

The Thunder jumped all over the Bulls in overtime, outscoring their opponents 15-4 the extra period to record a solid 109-98 win on Saturday, covering the spread as 8.5-point underdogs in the BetUS Sportsbook.

Team leader Kevin Durant posted a double-double, scoring 28 points and hauling down 12 boards for the Thunder while Nick Collison added 21 points and nine rebounds.

The Nets are coming off a narrow 104-102 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night, but managed to cover the spread as 7-point road underdogs. Veteran shooting guard Vince Carter just missed recording a triple-double in the loss, scoring 23 points while adding nine rebounds and 14 assists.

Here is a look at tonight’s key NBA betting trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and NBA Free Pick:

Oklahoma City is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games
Oklahoma City is 9-2 ATS in its last 11 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 6 of Oklahoma City’s last 8 games when playing on the road against New Jersey
The total has gone OVER in 12 of Oklahoma City’s last 17 games on the road
New Jersey is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of New Jersey’s last 5 games at home
The total has gone OVER in 6 of New Jersey’s last 8 games when playing at home against Oklahoma City
New Jersey is 6-2 SU in its last 8 games when playing at home against Oklahoma City

NBA Odds

Oklahoma City Thunder +6½ -110
New Jersey Nets -6½ -110

Over 201 -110

Analysis: While I think this is a contest that the New Jersey Nets will win simply because they are playing at home, I like the suddenly, ‘no-quit’ Thunder to cover the spread while pushing the Nets for the outright win. If you haven’t noticed NBA Sportsbook bettors, the Thunder are getting solid contributions from second-year forward Jeff Green that have taken a lot of the burden off Durant to put the ball in the hole on a consistent basis.
