San Antonio Spurs vs. Phoenix Suns Preview

The Spurs (61-20) rested their starters in their last game, but they may not do so tonight facing the Suns (39-42), as they look to wrap up the best record in the league.

In their last fames the Suns beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 135-127 in OT and the Spurs lost to the L.A. Lakers 102-93.

The Spurs have been a much better team to bet on this season at 44-35-2 ATS and the Suns only at 36-42-3 ATS. The Spurs have only covered the spread one time in their last 5 games against the Suns in Phoenix.

The Spurs can end up with a tie for the best record in the league if they win tonight and the Bulls do the same and that may be big, as if the Spurs and Bulls make it to the finals, which is a big if, there will be random draw to see which team will get home court in the finals. Yeah, a lot to digest, but the basic fact is the Spurs will likely play their starters of Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Antonio McDyess after they all were on the pine for most of the game in the loss to the Lakers.

The Spurs have won all 3 games against the Suns this season and the one guy Phoenix may have to key on is Tim Duncan, who averaged 17.7 ppg and 12 rpg against them in those 3 games.

The Suns have to play their game, which is running and gunning and firing away from deep. If they have to play a half-court game they will lose, as their D only ranks 28th in the league in opponents’ points allowed. NBA Betting

Phoenix ranks 4th in the league in scoring and Steve Nash (14.8 ppg), Vince Carter (13.6 ppg), and Grant Hill (13.2 ppg) have to score for the Suns to win. Tony Parker is key in this game for the Spurs not only on offense, as if he can slow down Nash and keep him from running and dishing out the rock then the Spurs will win.

The Spurs will play their starters and they have too much offense and a much better defense for the Suns to handle. Look for the Spurs to easily win this game and cover the spread.

Betting Trends

San Antonio is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games against teams with a losing record and they have an Over record of 5-1in their last 6 road games.

Phoenix is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games, and they have an Under record of 9-4 in their last 13 home games against teams with a winning road record.

In the last 4 games between these 2 teams the total has gone Over every time.

Pick: Spurs
