San Antonio Spurs vs. Philadelphia 76ers Preview
Tonight in the City of Brotherly Love the Philadelphia 76ers (24-28) host the San Antonio Spurs (44-8), who have the best record in the league. NBA lines have the Spurs as 3.5-point favorites with a total of 198.
In their last games both teams played on Wednesday night with the Spurs beating the Toronto Raptors 111-100 and the 76ers losing to the Orlando Magic 99-95.
Both teams have been great betting ones on the season with the Spurs at 32-18-2 ATS and the 76ers at 24-28 SU 32-19-1 ATS. San Antonio is 2-8 ATS in the last 10 games in Philadelphia.
The Spurs have had major troubles against the 76ers in the past decade and one player that has really struggled is PG Tony Parker (17.5 ppg). He is only averaging 12.4 ppg against the 76ers, which is his lowest average against any team in the league.
The 76ers will have their hands full tonight on D and they rank 13th in the league in opponents’ points per game. They will up against the Spurs’ scorers of Tim Duncan (13.4 ppg), Manu Ginobili (18.3 ppg), Richard Jefferson (13.4 ppg), and Parker.
The 76ers also have to worry about the only player in the San Antonio starting 5 that is not averaging in double figures in DeJuan Blair (8.5 ppg 7.2 rpg), who tied a career high with 28 points on Wednesday night and has a double-double in 5 of his last 6 games.
The 76ers will have to play good interior D and get a good inside-outside game on offense from PF Elton Brand (15.5 ppg) and guards Andre Iguodala (14.6 ppg) and Jrue Holiday (13.5 ppg).
The Spurs have had their problems in Philly, but they will change that tonight. They simply have way too many scoring options. The 76ers are playing well, but the Spurs are a legit championship contender and they will win this away game and cover the 3.5-point spread.
Betting Trends
San Antonio is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a road favorite and Philadelphia is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games as a home underdog.
Pick: Spurs -3.5
