San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzlies Preview

The Grizzlies won their first ever playoff game on their home court in Game 3 and they got back to banging the ball inside and they also played pretty good defense. NBA lines have the Spurs as slight 1-point favorites in this game with a total of 189.

In Game 3 the Grizzlies beat the Spurs 91-88 and for the 2nd time in the 3 games in this series Memphis covered the spread and the total for the game went Under.

This season the Spurs are 44-39-2 ATS and the Grizzlies have been one of the bets teams to lay some green on this season at 55-29-1 ATS.

After keeping Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol in check in Game 2 this duo combined to score 42 points on 15/34 shooting in Game 3. Even though the Spurs won the battle of the boards in the game (48-37) the Grizzlies out-scored the Spurs in the paint (44-40).

Randolph was the high scorer in the game with 25 points, but after the first half the Spurs changed up their D putting Duncan on him and he only had 7 points. Look for San Antonio to keep that strategy and if Duncan can shut down Randolph again the other Memphis players will have to step up on offense. NBA Betting

In Game 3 the Spurs only shot 41.3% from the floor and Manu Ginobili (23 points), Tony Parker (16 points), and Tim Duncan (13 points) only combined to shoot 15/37 from the floor. San Antonio is one of the best 3-pt shooting teams in the league and in Game 3 they only hit 2/15 from deep and they will have to hit the long ball again in Game 4 if they cannot contain Randolph and Gasol in the paint.

After disappearing in Game 2 the big bench players of the Griz or Shane Battier and O.J. Mayo showed up in Game 4 and chimed in for a combined 19 points and their scoring will be needed off the pine, as Game 2 showed if they struggle the team struggles.

The Spurs have their backs against the wall, but they know how to win pressure-filled games while the Griz do not. Look for the Spurs to shoot the rock better from deep and for them to keep Randolph from having a big game, as they will win this game and even the series at 2 games apiece.

Betting Trends

San Antonio is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite, and has an Over record of 9-4 in their last 13 games as a favorite.
Memphis is 20-8 ATS in their last 28 home games, 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a home underdog, and has an Under record of 5-1 in their last 5 home games.

Pick: Spurs -1
