The New York Knicks are locked in a disastrous tailspin. If there’s any chance of turning it around, it starts with Monday’s NBA odds; the Knicks face the lowly Washington Wizards.

New York (22-21, 26-15-2 ATS) has dropped six straight games, including a 101-98 loss at Oklahoma City on Saturday. Although the Knicks covered against the Thunder, they’re just 1-3-1 ATS in their past five outings.

Nothing is going right for New York. On most nights, they can’t score; in four of their past five losses, they’ve put up 98, 92, 89 and 83 points. On nights when they are draining buckets, the Knicks are miserable on defense; they’ve lost games during the skid despite putting up 121 and 125 points.

Consider the team officially frustrated. It’s reached the point where the players are complaining about officiating. To b honest, their complaints have some merit, at least against the Thunder on Saturday; a few phantom calls burned New York.

Several players are struggling. Wilson Chandler hit 52 percent of his field goals in December, averaging 19 points and 7.2 rebounds that month. In his past five games, Chandler is hitting just 35 percent of his shots while averaging 10.6 points and 4.8 rebounds. In his last two games combined, Chandler has 11 points and six boards. Washington (13-29, 16-26 ATS) is coming off an 85-83 win over the Boston Celtics. The Wizards are a respectable 5-4 in their past nine games, but they haven’t helped NBA bettors very much; the club is 3-9 ATS in its last 12 outings.

Andray Blatche has been one of the recent stand outs. Though he managed just 11 points and five rebounds against the Celtics, Blatche is averaging 18.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals over his last four games.

John Wall, meanwhile, recently became the first rookie of all time to have nine or more assists in 10 straight games. The streak ended against Boston, as Wall had just four assists, but he finished with 16 points, including the game-winning three-pointer.

It’s tempting to pick New York; on the surface, Washington is the prefect slump buster. The Wizards are playing competitive basketball, though, even if the spread doesn’t say it. The Knicks’ losing streak will end, but Washington will keep it close enough to cover.
