Two of the hottest teams in the NBA will go head-to-head on Saturday, as the San Antonio Spurs pay a visit to the New Orleans Hornets.

The Spurs (36-6, 25-16-1 ATS) have railed off seven straight wins since their two-game losing streak earlier this month. San Antonio failed to cover in Wednesday’s 104-95 win against Toronto, but it remains a very impressive 4-1 ATS in the past five games.

Lately, the Spurs have been getting a great—but somewhat surprising—boost from center DuJuan Blair. Blair is averaging 7.5 points and 6.6 rebounds this season, but he’s exploded in wins over Toronto and Dallas. Against the Raptors, Blair went off for 22 points and 11 rebounds. Against the Mavs, he put up 18 points and 13 rebounds. The last thing NBA teams want to see right now is another weapon for the Spurs.

Other than that, it’s more of the same in San Antonio. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are good for 20 points a night; George Hill comes off the bench with a double-digit scoring contribution; Tim Duncan works the glass and chips in a few points. Duncan has actually been a beast on the glass over the last week or so; he’s averaging 9.5 boards on the year, but he’s pulling down 13.3 per game over his last three outings. New Orleans (27-16, 23-18-2 ATS) has won six consecutive games, including a 103-102 overtime victory over Memphis on Wednesday day. The Hornets have dropped back-to-back games against the spread but are 8-3 ATS in their pat 11 games.

As has been the case all year, tenacious defense is carrying the Hornets. They’ve allowed just 90.8 points per game during the winning streak. Keeping opponents under 100 points is a major factor for New Orleans; the team is 3-9 this season when the opposing team tops the century mark in scoring.

The Hornets got a well-rounded effort from its roster against Memphis, as three different players finished with double-doubles. Chris Paul had 20 points and 12 assists; David West had 19 points and 11 rebounds (plus three blocked shots); and Emeka Okafor had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Both teams are playing exceptional basketball, but the Spurs have too much depth for New Orleans to handle. With so many weapons available, San Antonio should be able to hover around that dangerous 100-point mark—and play some pretty impressive defense of its own. Take the Spurs.
