New Orleans (21-15, 18-16-2 ATS) has won three out of its last four games, though its coming off a 110-103 defeat against Golden State on Wednesday. The Hornets also failed to cover, dropping to 3-1 ATS in their past four games.

After losing to the Warriors, head coach Monty Williams said he’s going to shake up his rotation. He’s unhappy with the bench, which has blown several leads for the Hornets this season. Against Golden State, for example, four reserves started the fourth quarter with an 82-72 lead; the Warriors promptly went on a 10-2 run in the next two minutes. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Golden State’s 38-point outburst in the fourth quarter is especially frustrating since the Hornets have been so good on “D” this year. They’re allowing less than 92 points per game this season and had giving up just 81, 81 and 79 points in their past three wins. With a struggling offense, New Orleans can hardly afford a defensive meltdown—the team is 1-8 when opponents score 100 points or more.

As usual, the team got a complete performance from Chris Paul. The superstar point guard finished with 24 points, 13 assists and six rebounds.

The Lakers (25-11, 16-20 ATS) have won four of their past five games, including back-to-back victories. They won 99-95 in Phoenix on Wednesday but failed to cover as 4.5-point favorites; that dropped L.A. to 2-6 ATS in its last eight games.

Puzzlingly, the Lakers’ high-flying offense remains missing in action. Los Angeles outscored teams with ease during the first month and a half of the season, regularly racking up 110-plus points. Over their past eight games, though, the Lakers are averaging just 92 points per game; they’re 4-4 in that span and have topped the 100-point mark just three times.

Pau Gasol is the biggest concern. He averaged over 20 points per game through October and November but, since then, he’s posted just 15.6 points per outing. His rebounding is also considerably down over the same stretch.

Los Angeles is the better team, and it should claw its way to the win, but the offensive brown out is tough to overlook. The Hornets are playing fantastic defense, so they should be in the perfect place to slow the Lakers. It’ll be enough to cover, anyway.
