Miami (56-24, 37-42-1 ATS) is 13-3 in its past 16 games. The Heat have won back-to-back outings, including a 100-77 victory over the Boston Celtics on Sunday. Miami covered as a six-point favorite, ending a two-game skid on NBA odds and improving to 4-2 in its last six games against the spread.

The win over Boston was an odd one for Miami. LeBron James scored 27 points while adding seven assists and five rebounds, but the other two thirds of the Big Three—Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh—combined for just 27 points of their own (they’re averaging over 44 points combined this season). A rare, well-rounded effort from the bench made a big difference, as the Heat reserves racked up 32 points. The Heat also did a marvelous job on defense, as only three Celtics cracked double figures in scoring. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Atlanta (44-36, 37-43 ATS) is crashing into the playoffs like a burning train wreck. The Hawks have dropped four consecutive games, including a brutal 115-83 loss to the Washington Wizards on Saturday. The Hawks had been brilliant against the spread, enjoying a recent six-game winning streak, but they’ve now lost three straight on NBA odds.

The Hawks are failing to play any semblance of defense, having given up 114, 97, 114 and 115 points in their past four games. The effort just isn’t there right now. At the other end of the floor, the Hawks aren’t much better—or at least they weren’t against the Wizards. While Joe Johnson and Al Horford combined for 37 points and 17 rebounds, the other three starters managed just 11 points and six rebounds—a pathetic performance.

The club has also played its past three games without Josh Smith. The forward has been resting his sore knee but is expected to return against Miami. That might not be a good thing. There are reports that Smith has been a major problem in the locker room and he’s been undermining the coaching staff.

All in all, the Hawks look like they’ve given up—and the playoffs aren’t even here yet. Miami, meanwhile, is fine tuning for a legitimate championship run. Take the Heat, who are poised for a strong finish.
