After a horrendous losing streak, the Dallas Mavericks are back to their winning ways. Can they keep their new winning streak alive when visiting the Boston Celtics on Friday night?

Dallas (33-15, 23-22-2 ATS) has ended its nightmare skid in fine fashion, winning six consecutive games. The Mavs cruised to victory in New York on Tuesday, beating the Knicks 113-97. It was the third straight game Dallas has covered against the spread.

A suddenly resurgent offense has been the biggest reason for the turnaround. Dallas struggled mightily to put points on the board during its slump, but that hasn’t been a problem over the last week or so. The Mavericks are averaging 108 points over their last five games, cracking the century mark every time.

Tyson Chandler is the Man of the Hour. The center is averaging 10.2 points per game on the year but, in the past six games—all Dallas wins, of course—he’s averaging 17.6 points per game. If he can maintain that pace, Dallas has found a suitable replacement for the scoring void left by Caron Butler. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

As if that wasn’t enough, the Mavericks picked up their play on defense, too. Dallas has held three straight opponents to under 100 points, allowing just 93.3 points per game in that span. Suffice to say, the Mavs are firing on all cylinders right now.

Boston (37-11, 23-23-2 ATS) has won four of its past five games after beating Sacramento 95-90 on Monday. The Celtics were 3-1 ATS in the four games leading up to their matchup with the Kings, but they failed to cover as 6.5-point favorites.

The Celtics’ frontcourt has been banged up all year, but there are finally signs of a turnaround. Kendrick Perkins missed the first 43 games of the season, but he’s suited up for the past five, coming off the bench and averaging about 22 minutes a game. He enjoyed his best effort of the year against the Kings, racking up eight points and 10 rebounds.

Perkins’ presence helps ease the pressure from Kevin Garnett, who didn’t have his A-game against Sacramento. Garnett made just three of his 10 field goal attempts, finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds. A few weeks ago, that probably would have cost Boston a win. With Perkins in the lineup, the team can battle through (though a cover against the spread would have been nice).

It’s hard to not love what Dallas is doing right now. Butler’s injury could prove to be a blessing in disguise, as it has allowed Chandler to emerge as a legitimate scoring threat and give the offense a new dynamic. Despite hitting the road, Dallas is a big-time threat to win this game outright. It’s best to stick with the hottest club in this one.
