NBA Preview: Spurs vs. Hornets (Dec. 17)

NBA Odds Spurs @ Hornets

The New Orleans Hornets, fresh off of a 7 point victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night, go back to the Crescent City to host a game against the San Antonio Spurs. Sports betting fans have to take both of these teams seriously as the Hornets and Spurs have turned things around after suffering defeats earlier in the season.  The Spurs are back with both Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker in the starting line-up. Basketball betting fans have to like that. With the strength of their line-up in tact, the Spurs have become winners against the BetUS Sportsbook online betting spread by going 12 and 11. They have a better record against the spread on the road than at home at 6 and 4.

The Hornets beat the Grizzlies on the road on Tuesday night and then had to take a flight back to New Orleans to prepare for their game against the Spurs. New Orleans is taking on San Antonio after having to fight hard in Memphis. Against the BetUS online wagering spread the Hornets have been less than stellar going 9-10-2. At home New Orleans is 4-5-1 against the spread.

Game-day: 12/17/2008
Tip-off: 9:30 pm est.

Here are the BetUS online NBA betting odds for this game:

San Antonio Spurs + 3 ½ – 110 + 140 O 186 – 110
New Orleans Hornets – 3 ½ – 110 – 160 U 186 – 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game:

The San Antonio Spurs are 11 and 5 against the spread in their last 16 games overall.
The San Antonio Spurs are 4 and 1 against the spread in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
The New Orleans Hornets are 20-9-1 against the spread in their last 30 games at home.
The Favorite is 6 and 1 against the spread in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

The Hornets are playing the Spurs after having to battle the Memphis Grizzlies in their last, but the truth of the matter is that the Hornets always play the Spurs tough.

The Spurs know that this is a key game but will they be able to handle the up and down pace that Hornets’ point-guard, Chris Paul, is adept at creating? Paul is a master in these types of games. He will be battling Tony Parker, but Paul has enough size to stick with Parker and Paul is faster.

To me, the Spurs appear poised to upset the Hornets straight-up on the BetUS money-line. But NBA games aren’t played on paper. They’re played on basketball courts.

Spurs vs. Hornets Prediction

I like the Hornets to cover the BetUS online betting spread in this game by beating the San Antonio Spurs by at least four points.
