Atlanta Hawks vs. San Antonio Spurs Odds and Matchup

Just when a lot of sports betting fans thought it was safe to put the proverbial fork into the San Antonio Spurs, the Spurs start winning games. At this point in the season, and it’s still extremely early, the Spurs are 12 and 8. That’s four games above .500.    It’s not a fantastic record, but it’s good enough for this online NBA betting fan to say that the Spurs are back. They are going to be tough to beat from here on out as long as they stay healthy.

Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan and Michael Finley are all starting again. That spells doom for most of the other teams in the Western Conference. Against the BetUS online betting spread, the Spurs are 11 and 9 overall and 6 and 5 at home. Most of their against the spread wins have occurred since Manu and Tony got back into the line-up.

The Atlanta Hawks were incredibly hot in the first month of the season. They’ve tailed off some, but they are still a viable playoff contender in the weak Eastern Conference. They probably don’t have much of a chance against the Boston Celtics in the end but they could very well be a strong against the spread team for the entire season. So far the Hawks have gone 10 and 10 against the BetUS online wagering spread. Their record against the spread on the road is a winning one at 7 and 5.

Here are the BetUS online sportsbook betting odds for this game:

Atlanta Hawks + 6 ½ – 110 + 240 O 188 ½ – 110
San Antonio Spurs – 6 ½ – 110 – 290 U 188 ½ – 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet:

The Atlanta Hawks are 2 and 6 against the spread in their last 8 games following an against the spread loss.
The Under is 4-1-1 in the Atlanta Hawks last 6 games overall.
The San Antonio Spurs are 7 and 2 against the spread in their last 9 games overall.
The Under is 12 and 3 in the San Antonio Spurs last 15 games at home.

The Spurs should easily cover the 6 ½ point spread on paper but NBA games aren’t played on paper. The Atlanta Hawks have a very good record on the road against the BetUS online betting spread. Because of that, I’m sort of hesitant to put too much money on the Spurs to cover.

Instead, I believe that there is a flaw in the BetUS Total that could be exploited. Both the Spurs and Hawks are defensive minded teams. Both teams can run but the Spurs in particular are very adepts at shutting off the flood gates – – that means they can keep the Hawks from sprinting down the court for easy lay-ups.

That, of course, is the only way that both of these teams hit the number of 188 ½. The Hawks would need to play an excellent up and down game to approach to the total. Both the Spurs and Hawks would need to score 94 points for that to happen. I don’t see the Hawks getting past 88 or the Spurs getting past 96 and that’s asking a lot.

Hawks vs. Spurs Prediction:

I’m going under in this game.
