The Chicago Bulls are healthy again, and they appear ready to make a run in the Eastern Conference. The Atlanta Hawks are a talented team, but they haven’t proven able to bet the best in the East. This showdown in Atlanta will be a pivotal game for both teams as the season moves forward.
The Bulls got Joakim Noah back last week, and now they have a fully loaded roster. The Bulls boast the most depth of any team in the Eastern Conference in the blocks. Noah and Carlos Boozer combine to form a terrific rebounding duo. Derrick Rose is the leader of this team, and many think he is the front runner for the NBA’s MVP award this year. Rose is averaging 25 points and eight assists per game. Tom Thibodeau has done a terrific job getting this team to buy into his defensive system. The Bulls rank second in the NBA in both points allowed per game as well as field goal percentage defense. Chicago is the best defensive rebounding team in the league.
The Atlanta Hawks should be absolutely thrilled to get home. The Hawks have had seven straight road games and this will be their first game at home in more than two weeks. Josh Smith is listed as questionable for this game. Smith left Monday’s game against the Nuggets with a sprained MCL. Al Horford is having a breakout season for the Hawks. Horford is averaging 16 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Joe Johnson is the leading scorer for Atlanta, and Jamal Crawford is a great scoring weapon off the bench. The Hawks have been inconsistent this year, and they need to develop a little bit better team chemistry.
