ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider Gambling Preview

Orlando

This team has been competing at home but losing on the road and is now embarking on a lengthy road trip.

The fact that they just collected their first road victory the last time out against Atlanta is encouraging but this team still has a long way to go.

The Magic have to have one of the more pleasant surprises in the league in the form of leading scorer SG Arron Afflalo.

Long known for his athleticism he has upped his production with the high volume of available shots in Orlando to the point that he is averaging more than 21ppg. Key has been the fact that he is shooting an amazing 48% from the three point line.

That is well above his career average so we will see how long he can keep that up.

Even though the Magic have struggled to win on the road they are a solid 4-2 ATS on the road this season. I am not saying you want to make habit of backing the Magic but in some situations they are the smart way to go.

This just might be one of them as they take on a Wizards team that looks great one night and miserable the next without any signals why.

Washington

The Eastern Conference is pretty awful after Miami and Indiana so there is a potential soft landing place if the Wizards can start playing to their potential. They have won four of their last five and even though they are still a game under .500 they have the 4th most wins in the conference.

They are not exactly going to challenge the Heat and the Pacers but if they are truly turning the corner they should beat Orlando

If they are going to keep up their winning ways they are going to have to do it without high scoring two guard Bradley Beal. In his second year Beal has become a force but he will be out for at least the next two weeks. Without Beal in the lineup the Wizards have turned to Martell Webster, a name that has flamed out in the past.

The last game he scored 19 points over 40 minutes. If that kind of production is sustained than the Wizards should be more than OK in the short term.

The Wizards have a 9-8 ATS so they haven’t been killing bettors. There is talent on this team but the slightly over .500 ATS mark shows that they are disappointing almost as often as they are delighting.

Still I am not buying into the luck that the Magic have had on the road.

The Wizards are the play and might be worth backing while Beal is out and it is assumed they will struggle.
