Orlando vs Memphis NBA Picks

The Magic are in last place in the Southeast Division standings. One of the reasons they are there is that his team is no good on the road with just one victory in nine tries. [ad-4468020]

ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider Gambling Preview

Orlando

This game is the 5th straight on the road for Orlando and a lot of the results have not been very pretty.

It is also the second of a back to back, a situation that does not make them more likely to succeed on the road. This team just doesn’t have enough players to compete right now.

One guy who has really stepped up though is C Nikola Vucevic. He is currently averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds per game but is dealing with an ankle injury. He could have been a real factor against Memphis who is hurting, literally, inside right now.

Shooting guard Arron Afflalo erupted for 43 points last week against Philadelphia in a one point overtime loss that almost gave the Magic their second road victory. He is taking more shots than ever this season and making them count.

Orlando may stink away from home in terms of wins and losses but they are 5-4 ATS this season. The reality is that this team is going to struggle to score most nights but when they are getting a few shots to fall they can keep things closer than you would think.

They make a higher percentage of shots than you would expect and are not shy about the three ball.

Memphis

The Grizzlies also find themselves in last place, in the Southwest Division, which is a huge disappointment for a team that is supposed to be on the come.
[ad-6571516]
Injuries as much as anything have dragged this team down and though PF Zach Randolph has gotten healthy enough to return they are still without C Marc Gasol, and SG Tony Allen and PF Ed Davis are questionable.

Without those three this is definitely a different defensive team, which is where they hang their hat.

With Gasol out and Randolph back the Grizzlies would be wise to lean on their crafty lefty scorer. His numbers this year are not that great but for half his career he has been a 20ppg scorer and he tends to pout when not the focus of the attack.

The Grizzlies are a good defensive team but with the players they are missing the D will take a big hit so doing something to get the scoring up will be a necessity.

Memphis’ disappointing season has been killing bettors, especially at home where they are 2-9 ATS. We are now about a quarter of the way through the season so this team may just be what it is – a sub .500 team in the West.

That doesn’t make them horrible but we have to change our expectations and power ratings.

Spread Pick: Orlando +12.5
O/U Pick: Under
