ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider Gambling Preview

Denver

They have completely lost their edge at home and to be frank they were never all that good of a road team anyway. That combination is leaving them on the outside looking in in the deep Western Conference where the surprise teams like Dallas and Phoenix show no signs of slowing down.

One area where the Nuggets are pretty good is up front.

They don’t have a ton of size but in Kenneth Faried and J.J. Hickson they have active bodies that attack the boards and SF Wilson Chandler has always been one of those sneakily productive players – he is second on the team in scoring.

The real weakness of this club is that they get way below average production from the two guard spot where the don’t have much of a defensive presence either.

Back the Nuggets at your own risk as they are just 22-30 ATS this season. They have not been playing well lately and with the way the Bulls play defense they have a knack for dragging a bad game out of opponents.

Denver is just the kind of team to walk right into that trap so fading the Nuggets is the smart play even though there is a lot not to like about the Bulls too.

Chicago

Chicago got a really good win against Toronto coming out of the break, taking advantage of a back to back for the Raptors. They are getting a chance to do the same on Friday against Denver.

This is still a flawed team but it looks like one that is going to make the playoffs in a weak Eastern Conference. They have covered 4 straight too so it looks like the books are underestimating them as well.

This team struggles to score in a general way but against Toronto 5 players scored in double digits including a surprising 19 from reserve guard D.J. Augustin.

The win showed just how backwards and unpredictable this team can be with skinny forward Mike Dunleavy leading in rebounds while All-Star center Joakim Noah led in assists with 13.

You have to give coach Tom Thibodeau a lot of credit for keeping these guys so competitive.

The Bulls should be feeling good with their upset victory coming out of the break. I still see this as a fade team more often than not as their lack of consistent scoring is worrisome.

Denver is a good matchup for them though so if you can get them in the -5 range than they probably won’t let you down.

Spread Pick: Chicago -7.5
O/U Pick: Under
Score Prediction: Chicago 87 – Denver 77
