NBA Predictions: 2014 Central Division Betting Preview

Central Division NBA Picks

It is no surprise that the Cavs are the Central Division favourites here, they are the favourites for everything right now. Still the better value is on the Bulls but beyond that there is no way another team could sneak up and grab the division title. Those two should battle for most of the season provide the Bulls stay healthy and whole.

Cleveland -200

It is no surprise that the Cavs are the prohibitive favourite to win the division. With LeBron and Love leading the way this team seems destined for the Finals and could have the division wrapped up with a month to go if everything breaks right.

The role players seem to be in place so it is hard to find fault with this logic.

There might be some growing pains early, like the King experienced in Miami, but once this teams gets comfortable they should cruise to the playoffs.

Chicago +160

Love the value with the Bulls here. Maybe the Cavs struggle just a little more during the regular season and maybe Derrick Rose gets back to his All-Star level all year long.

If that happens with the new additions Chicago has made as well the Bulls could certainly challenge throughout the year. LeBron is the big difference maker but that is more when they go head to head.

Strong defense and better offense from the return of Rose and guys like Gasol could be a division winning mix.

Indiana +1800

Coming into the season it looks like the Pacers won’t be a factor. Injuries and exoduses have robbed them of their two best all around players and even though they still have a formidable frontcourt it likely won’t be enough.

If they are committed on defense they shouldn’t embarrass themselves but about a .500 record would be the ceiling for this group. I think the key will be there start.

There is a lot of doom and gloom but if they quickly find a way to be respectable they will be O.K.

Detroit +6500

I really want this Detroit team to take off but I don’t think they are there just yet.

They should show improvement though and despite the discrepancy in the odds I would comfortably take them ahead of the Pacers.

Here is a prediction. Stan Van Gundy gets them into the East playoffs and wins coach of the year. That is a nice platform to build off in the future.

Milwaukee +20000

The Bucks are going to be in a dogfight with Philly for the worst record in the league this season.

Their roster is terrible and it is not like new coach Jason Kidd is going to be out coaching their opponents.

The one thing he might do is get more out of PG Brandun Knight but even if that happens this team is still going to be pretty awful.

They might have put some odds up on this thing but I don’t see how anyone could even make the case they finish out of the division basement.
