Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat Preview

The Celtics got back to playing solid defense in the last 2 wins inn this series and they will have to play great D tonight in order to take a 3-2 lead in this series. NBA lines have the Heat as 8-point home favorites tonight with a total of 179.

In Game 4 the Celtics beat the Heat 93-91 in OT.

This season the Celtics are 43-38-2 ATS with an O/U record of 37-43-3 and the Heat are 41-40 ATS with an O/U record of 33-46-2.

Rajon Rondo did not have a big scoring Game 4, but he dished out 15 assists and every Celtics starter scored in double figures. How he goes the Celtics go and if the Heat can get in the passing lanes and keep him out of the paint they should win this game.

Dwyane Wade was only 7/22 from the floor in Game 4 and he missed a 3-pointer that would have won the game in OT. He could have gone to the hoop and tried to get an easier shot, but decided to jack up a 3. In the game the Heat scored 48 points in the paint and Wade and James and company have to keep attacking the rim and not settling for jumpers.

The Heat could really use Bosh tonight on offense as well as his work on the boards. The Heat cannot give up double-digit offensive rebounds like they did in Game 4. In an interesting stat the Heat have won 72% of their games with Bosh in the lineup and only 52% of their games when he is out. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Mario Chalmers and Udonis Haslem have been helping Wade and James out and they need to continue to do so. Mike Miller has not been knocking down the 3 in this series and if he can hit a few tonight it will make things much easier on Wade and James.

The Big 3 of Boston was solid in Game 4 combining for 56 points led by Paul Pierce with 23 points. He fouled out again in Game 4 and if that happens again don’t look for the Celtics to win again.

In some betting trends for this playoff match up the Celtics are e 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. win, and they have an Over record of 7-3 in their last 10 vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.

The Heat are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games, 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5 points, and they have an Over record of 6-1 in their last 7 games.

Jason’s Pick: I think the Heat will win this game, but the Celtics have a ton of confidence after the 2 home wins and they will keep it close and cover.
