The Warriors are 1st place in the West and they have a 9-1 record in their last ten games. The Rockets are 7-3 in their last ten games and 4th place in the West.

We have two of the best teams in the NBA meeting up in this match-up. These teams have played against each other three times this season and the Warriors have a perfect 3-0 record (3-0 ATS) up to this point.

They covered a –9 point spread just last month at home, but this time around I expect the Rockets to be able to keep it closer. Golden State is averaging 110.3 PPG (1st) while Houston scores 102.6 PPG (8th).

Both of these teams are playing good defense as well. The Rockets allow 98.4 PPG (11th) and the Warriors allow 98.6 PPG (13th). The Warriors move the basketball around much better and out rebound Houston.

Harden has been playing great lately for the Rockets and that’s important because he has an extremely high usage rate. Harden has struggled against the Warriors this season though and his numbers are down.

[dfads params=’groups=63727&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

On the season Harden averages 27.1 PPG, but in three games against GSW he’s averaging 22.7 PPG. He’s just 4-23 from beyond the arc. Thompson has done a great job at defending Harden on the court.

Thompson and Curry have also been incredible on offense against Houston. They’ve been able to expose the Rockets guards in earlier match-ups. With Bogut back it’ll be even tougher for the Rockets to win.

One good thing for Houston is that Green isn’t playing great right now. He has been inconsistent due to a reduced role now that some players are back from injury, especially on the offensive end of the court.

The x-factor in this game is Howard. He can be a beast in the paint when he’s focused, but lately he has looked lost on the court more often than not.

Will he be able to step up and help his Rockets win?

Free NBA Picks: Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors

Houston Rockets +8 (-110)

Recent trends point towards taking the Warriors, but I’m not so sure about that. Over 70% of the action is on the Warriors to cover at the time of writing. I’ll take the Rockets with a spread close to double digits.

I expect Golden State to win at home, as they’ve posted an incredible 18-1 record at home. Harden will be able to keep his team in it this time around. He’s on a hot run right now and I can’t see GSW stopping him.
