ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

Toronto made some noise earlier in the week when they shipped standout forward Rudy Gay, Quicy Acy, and Aaron Gray to Sacramento. The team has had mixed results since making the trade, with a win and a loss, although the loss came against San Antonio on Tuesday, 116-103.

With Gay gone and plenty of shots available for the taking, it was DeMar DeRozan who got the most of them, leading the team with 16 field goal attempts. He also tied for the team lead in points with 19, a mark matched by Amir Johnson. Johnson led the team with nine rebounds and hit on 9 of 11 field goal attempts. As a team, the Raptors shot 45.8 percent and 43.5 percent. The team should continue to be more efficient offensively with Rudy Gay and his poor percentages out of town.

The Raptors certainly missed Gay’s athleticism and length at the defensive end though, as they allowed San Antonio to shoot 54.9 percent from the floor and 56.5 percent from three in the game. Manu Ginobili in particular gave the Raps trouble, particularly down the stretch, leading the Spurs with 16 points and four triples.

Philadelphia ended up with the same result in their last game, a 106-99 loss to Minnesota.

The 76ers road a strong first quarter in which they outscored Minnesota 39-20 for most of the game, but eventually gave the lead away in the fourth quarter.

The team shot 52.7 percent from the floor and 45 percent from three in the game. Tony Wroten and Spencer Hawes led the team with 20 points apiece. Hawes showed off his ability to stretch the floor by knocking down 4 of 5 three-pointers. He also blocked three shots.

Philadelphia had no answer whatsoever for Minnesota’s bigs. Kevin Love scored 26 points and added 15 boards, while Nikola Pekovic had 20 points and 10 rebounds, seven of which came at the offensive end. Ricky Rubio was also able to get up 21 points, scoring nine of them from the charity stripe. As a team the Timberwolves were held to 38.5 percent shooting in the contest.

This seems like a lot of points for a seven-win Raptors team to be giving away, but they are expected to get a big boost with five players entering the rotation as Tyler Hansbrough makes his return to action, and the four players from Sacramento make their debuts.

The play: Toronto -8
