76ers vs Heat Odds

Miami: -11.5 (-110)
Philadelphia: +11.5 (-110)
Over/Under: 191.5

Team Season Records:
Philadelphia: 26-51 SU, 31-46 ATS
Miami: 43-34 SU, 41-34-2 ATS

With only a handful of games left in the regular season for both teams, Miami is looking to keep building momentum heading into the playoffs and Philadelphia is looking forward to a merciful end to their dismal season and a high lottery pick in this year’s college draft.

The Heat come into this game riding an eight game winning streak that has taken their overall record to 43-34 on the year. They are currently in 5th place in the Eastern Conference. While they can finish no better than the fifth seed for the playoffs, Milwaukee is right on their heels and Charlotte is only a few games back, so they need a strong finish to maintain their spot.

Their current winning streak began with a low scoring 77-71 win over the Bobcats, but since then they have been averaging 98 points per game with an average margin of victory of 13.42 points.

Much of their recent success can be attributed to the elevated play of Dwyane Wade, who was just named NBA Player of the Month. In their 105-96 win over Indiana last Friday, Wade had 43 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. On Sunday night he had 39 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in a 97-84 win over Minnesota.

For the season he is averaging 26.6 points per game. Other players to watch for the Heat are Michael Beasley (14.9 points per game) and Jermaine O’Neal (13.8 points).

Two weeks ago Philadelphia recorded back to back wins over two playoff caliber teams, beating the Bucks 101-86 in Milwaukee and Atlanta 105-98 at home so you never know when they are going to show up and play.

Since then they have dropped their last four including a 103-124 loss to Detroit last night. For the season, their leading scorer and most consistent player has been Andre Igoudala. He is averaging 17.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. While many nights he finds himself trying to win a game on his own, Thaddeus Young and Elton Brand has occasionally showed up to help as each is averaging over 13 points per game.

One bright spot for this team has been the play of rookie G Jrue Holiday. Since Allen Iverson’s permanent departure from the team, his playing time has increased as he is averaging 23.8 minutes per game along with eight points per game. Look for an expanded role in the offense next season if he continues to develop.

With only five games left to play, Miami has clinched a playoff spot and while they are currently in the fifth spot, they could still fall all the way to seventh and have to face Orlando in the first round if they falter down the stretch.

Given their tenuous situation and how well they have been playing as of late, they cannot afford to mess around with a team like Philadelphia, especially at home.

Take the Heat to win and cover the points.
