Not only have they alternated wins and losses over their last six games, but the Trail Blazers are 5-6 over their last 11 contests, and learning quickly that even the slightest of stumbles means a significant stumble in the ultra-competitive Western Conference.

On the flip side, Oklahoma State is surging, and largely due to the play of Kevin Durant. Durant is averaging 31.2 points, and he been at his best when facing Portland. In the three meetings between the clubs this season, Durant is averaging a gaudy 38.7 points per game, his highest average against any opponent this season, and he’s done so hitting on 54.1 percent of his shots from the field. Even still, Portland came away with wins in two of those contests. The Thunder will need Durant to be at his best on Tuesday, as their lone triumph over Portland came on the back of a 46-point effort by the MVP candidate.

Durant was certainly on his game in the team’s last outing, a 112-100 win in New York on Sunday. Durant scored 41 points against the Knicks, and nearly came away with a triple-double, finishing the game with 10 rebounds and nine assists. If that wasn’t enough, he also gave Carmelo Anthony fits at the other end of the court, limiting him to just 15 points on 5-of-19 shooting.

While Durant’s production has received an uptick while facing the Trail Blazers, Portland has a player of its own who has really enjoyed the matchup. Forward LaMarcus Aldridge is averaging 30.7 points and 14.3 rebounds in the three meetings between the teams this season. He’s especially enjoyed hosting the Thunder, scoring at least 32 points in four of their last six visits.

All five Portland starters are averaging double-digits on the season as the team ranks first in the NBA scoring an average of 108.0 points per game, and reserve rookie C.J. McCollum is emerging as a contributor off the bench, chipping in 19 points in the team’s last game, a 117-110 win over Minnesota.

The Thunder have a solid defense to back up their stellar offense, but the Trail Blazers don’t, and with Portland playing in their home building, they’ll get their points. That could mean a fast-paced, high-scoring affair on Tuesday night, and with a reasonable total installed, these teams could blow past it well before the closing moments of the game.

The over is 6-2 in Oklahoma City’s last eight games overall.

The play: Over 210
