ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

The Thunder have won three in a row following a three-game slide, while the Suns have stumbled somewhat lately after a wild start to the season, dropping four of their last six games.

The Suns just haven’t been able to get the job done at the defensive end in recent outings, allowing opponents to score 110.2 points per game over their last six contests. The team had surrendered just 95.3 points per game in winning their previous three games before that six-game stretch.

They’ll need to figure things out in a hurry because the Thunder offense has been on a roll as they head into town.

A big reason for that has been the play of Russell Westbrook, who finally appears to have his legs back under him. The Thunder had lost their first three games with Westbrook back in the lineup, but have won all three games since, scoring 118.0 points per game over the course of that streak, with Westbrook averaging 20.0 points, 8.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.7 steals over the course of that streak.

His production hasn’t come at the expense of Kevin Durant either, as Durant scored a team-high 42 points in the team’s last win over the 76ers.

As for the Suns, they could have help coming soon as Eric Bledsoe has been back practicing. He’s been out since Dec. 30 with a knee injury since Dec. 30 but is expected back before the month is out. The team will need him back soon after fellow point guard Leandro Barbosa suffered a broken hand and could be out up to six weeks.

This game is an important one for Phoenix as it marks the end of a stretch in which they’ve played 12 of 15 at home – they’ll play 15 of their final 22 games on the road.

The Suns aren’t in the kind of form they were in earlier this year, so it’s unlikely they’ll play the role of dragon-slayer on this night.

The team has been woefully inconsistent at the defensive end of the court, and that isn’t a recipe for success with the Thunder coming to town, as Oklahoma City has really found another gear over the course of their current three-game winning streak.

The Thunder are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games, while the Suns are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games versus teams with a winning record.

The over is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings between these teams, and 4-1 in the Thunder’s last five games.

The play: Oklahoma City -6, Over 216.5
