Although still outside a playoff spot, the Suns (12-15) have now won four of their last five and have started to once again play like a team capable of making a decent run through the postseason.

Behind feisty leader Steve Nash, who returned after receiving four stitches in his bottom lip in a first quarter collision with Isiah Thomas with, Phoenix dethroned the Kings 98-94 on Saturday.

Nash finished the game with just four points, but made up for it with a game-high 15 assists.

In the meantime, the Suns’ bench stepped it up while its star point guard was being sewn up, and behind a solid effort from rookie Markieff Morris who registered 18 points, combined for 35 in the win..

Nash will hope he can make it through what is sure to be a physical game on Monday against the Warriors, who lead the NBA with 5.5 more fouls per game than their opponents.

This will be the second contest of a three-game homestand that began with a 106-97 victory over Houston on Sunday. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

It marked the second consecutive win for a Golden State (10-14) team which has missed the playoffs in 17 of the past 18 seasons, and despite the recent uptick, haven’t looked promising for the Warriors since they released overnight sensation Jeremy Lin during training camp.

Free Pick: Suns 105, Warriors 95–The Suns defense has improved of late, as they have only allowed 92.8 points per game in their last five and are surrendering an average of just 96.0 this season.

However, Golden State does possess some skill at the guard position, with Monta Ellis (33 points Sunday) and Stephen Curry, plus emerging rookie Klay Thompson.

Nevertheless, Phoenix has won the last three meetings, of course all in Phoenix, by an average of 15.3 points.
