If you like offense, make sure you check out the Thunder and Suns tonight. They’ve each eclipsed 100 points in five of their last seven meetings.

Though the Oklahoma City Thunder have predictably emerged as a Western Conference contender, oddsmakers may be inflating their value too much because of the Kevin Durant/Russell Westbrook hype. Even though they’ve won three of their last four games, they’re just 2-6 ATS over their last eight. They’re winning but winning close.

Don’t look now but the Phoenix Suns are creeping back into the playoff hunt. They’ve won three straight and are 8-3 over their last 11 games. Following the blueprint Mike D’Antoni left behind, they’re third in the league in scoring and 29th in defense. We know what we get with the Suns.

We also know what we get with Steve Nash. The veteran point guard continues to post numbers almost on par with this two MVP seasons. Nash averages 16.8 points and 11.1 assists. He has 13 or more dimes in six of his last 10 games.

Could a minor upset be in the cards tonight? I think so. Oklahoma City has scuffled on the road of late. They’ve lost three of four away from home and their one victory over that span came by one point in overtime against the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves.

Meanwhile, the Suns are brimming with confidence at the moment. They’re 3-0 on their current homestand. They hammered the mighty Boston Celtics by 17 points and stopped a red-hot New Orleans team over that span.

We can still expect some big offense tonight. Kevin Durant leads the NBA with 29.2 points per game. In his last four contests, he’s scored 47, 40, 33 and 43 points. Wow. So the Thunder should leap into triple digits easily.

But I’d expect Phoenix to do the same. The Thunder still aren’t a good defensive team. Look for Nash to help the Suns outgun the Thunder in what should be a wild Friday-night shootout.
