Philadelphia 76ers @ Toronto Raptors
The Raptors have to thank the Cleveland Cavaliers. Thanks’ to the Cavs’ 18-game losing streak, the league hasn’t noticed that the Raptors have been almost as bad of late. They’ve lost eight straight and nine of 10 overall. Injuries are partially to blame; Reggie Evans and Leandro Barbosa are still out of the lineup. Top scorer Andrea Bargnani is playing through knee pain. Jose Calderon is sick.
The pesky 76ers have been one of the NBA’s best bets this year, going 28-15-1 against the spread, including 14-8-1 on the road. They lack a go-to star but get decent efforts every night from a number of guys, including Elton Brand, Jrue Holiday and Andre Iguodala. The 76ers have beaten four straight spreads and won four of six outright.
However, the deck could be stacked against them tonight. For one, this team is still six games under .500. Can you really feel safe picking them as a 4.5-point road favorite, even against the Raptors? Philly is just 3-9 ATS over its last 12 when favored on the road. 
Secondly, the Raptors have dominated the recent history between these two teams. They’ve won the last three meetings and six of the last seven. If any team can be their slump buster, it’s Philadelphia. Bargnani could lead the charge tonight, knee pain and all; he averages 27 points on 58.8 per cent shooting over two games against the 76ers so far this season.
The Raps are due; give them a shot tonight. Even if you don’t like them to win, maybe they can stay closer than five points. They’re 4-2 ATS over their last six games.
