New Orleans Pelicans vs. Phoenix Suns Gambling & NBA Handicapping Prediction

New Orleans vs Phoenix NBA Picks

New Orleans may be building something but they are definitely not there yet. Their recent play has been especially uninspiring with just 1 win in their last 8 games. [ad-4468020]

New Orleans

They are in last place in the Southwest division and at this point in the season there is little to makes it look like they are going to finish strong. The best they can hope for is that their core players continue to develop.

Chief among those players is Anthony Davis, who made the All-Star team this season. The lanky forward has developed as a scorer much more quickly than I would have thought and continues to be an eraser at the rim. This team is missing Jrue Holiday lately. He is not exactly your typical point guard but he is the best they have in terms of distributing the ball.

New Orleans is in a funk and their last road win against a team that wasn’t Milwaukee was a month ago. They have been sub.500 ATS on the road and are not going to get an easy one against a Phoenix team looking to rebound. For a lot of reasons this is not good spot for the Pelicans.

Phoenix

The Suns looked terrible in a road loss to Utah on Wednesday night. They were missing PG Goran Dragic due to injury and they just never got on track the whole game. He is questionable for Friday night so they need to adjust quickly to take advantage of the struggling Pelicans. The loss drops them behind Golden State in the loss column so they need to grab the wins they are supposed to on the schedule.

With Dragic out the mantle passes to Ish Smith. Smith is an exciting player who uses his speed and handle to get anywhere on the court but he needs to learn to slow down. Phoenix is having success because they have a nice and unselfish team concept where people get the ball when and where they are supposed to. Tonight they are going to need a solid defensive presence in the post against Davis from Miles Plumlee.

The Suns are looking to get off the skids, having lost three in a row SU and ATS. Even those three losses can not diminish the fact that they have been big time bread winners this season with a 36-20-1 record ATS this season. The numbers have been better on the road but 17-12-1 at home ain’t bad and with the losses this is probably a good buying opportunity.
