The slumping New Orleans Hornets will look to pick up a much needed win when they go on the road to take on the Golden State Warriors this Tuesday night. The tip from ORACLE Arena is set for 10:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be available on NBA League Pass.
New Orleans has struggled since starting center Emeka Okafor went down seven games ago with a strained oblique. The Hornets are just 2-5 straight-up with him out of the lineup and fading fast in the Southwest Division, falling 13 games behind San Antonio with an overall record of 33-23. They are currently in fifth-place in the Western Conference.
David West and Chris Paul still provide a solid base of talent for this team. West is averaging 19 points and 7.7 rebounds a game, while Paul is averaging 16.5 points and a team-high 9.7 assists. Aaron Gray is filling in for Okafor at the center spot but has struggled to replace his team-high 10.1 rebounds a game.
Golden State has shown some signs of life with a solid pair of wins at home. First, the Warriors knocked-off Denver 116-114 last Wednesday as a three-point favorite followed by a 100-94 win over Oklahoma City as a 2 ½-point favorite on Sunday. They are 24-29 SU overall (27-25-1 ATS) but 18-11 SU at home.
Monta Ellis is one of the top scorers in the league with 25.2 points per game and is second on the team in assists with 5.5. Stephen Curry is the second leading scorer with 18.8 points a game and David Lee leads in rebounds with 9.6. Golden State is averaging 102.9 points and 40.6 rebounds a game.
The Warriors present some matchup problems underneath for New Orleans with Okafor not in there. Golden State is in excellent position to pull-off its sixth SU home win in its last seven games against a Hornets team that is 1-8 ATS in their last nine games.
