Top NBA Cappers: Monday/Tuesday Plays

NBA Playoff Picks

If the Kentucky Derby odds are among the toughest events to predict in all of sports betting online, NBA playoff picks are usually among the easiest. That’s what makes this year’s uncharacteristically unpredictable first round of basketball betting so refreshing and exciting. Let’s examine the landscape of the remaining series.

Hawks vs Heat odds – Game 4 tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET

Considering how important home court is in hoops betting, getting a split on the road goes a heck of a long way, so the Miami Heat odds are sitting pretty at the moment. After Dwyane Wade helped the Heat steal a game in Atlanta, they returned home and thumped the Hawks 107-78 in Game 3. The Hawks were just 16-25 on the road in the NBA betting regular season – an inexcusable mark for any playoff team, let alone a top-four seed. They’re in big trouble again tonight and Miami won’t let up at home.

Nuggets vs Hornets odds – Game 4 tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET

As good as Chris Paul (and, to a lesser extent, David West) is, it just feels like the Hornets are swimming upstream in this series. Even their home win in Game 3 was a labored two-point squeaker. The Nuggets seem hungry and Chauncey Billups is the experienced, savvy type of player who knows how to get them out of the first round, so they could very well pull off the road upset here.

Betting online pick: Nuggets

Jazz vs Lakers odds – Game 4 tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more lopsided sports betting line tonight, but you can’t blame oddsmakers; the Jazz don’t do road wins and the Lakers may as well be playing in a different league than the Jazz if they’re hosting them at Staples Center.

If you don’t like the value on picking the Lakers, just don’t bet on the Jazz vs Lakers line at all. Letting the Jazz odds tempt you would be throwing your money away.

Betting online pick: Lakers

Bulls vs Celtics odds – Game 5 Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. ET

The Bulls pulled even Sunday in a double-overtime thriller and this NBA betting series is quickly becoming a classic. Ben Gordon’s shooting has been unreal, the Bulls already have a win in Boston in this series, and the marathon Game 4 means the younger Bulls should be fresher entering Game 5, but look for the Celts to pull out a moral victory and more in Game 5. Looking down the road to NBA Finals betting, Boston seems doomed to bow out early, but Pierce, Allen and Rondo should still rally to push the Bulls to the brink of elimination. Expect the Celtics odds to prevail in Game 5 – though they may not cover the 7.5-point spread – and eventually win the series, but it’s hard to imagine them surviving round two.

Betting online pick: Celtics

76ers vs Magic odds – Game 5 Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET

The 76ers deserve tons of credit for making the Magic work so hard early in this basketball betting matchup, but the Magic are due to bust out. They’ve worked out any early jitters and head home for what could be the first blowout of the series. Andre Iguodala can’t do it all for Philly and he seems to be tiring; he was just four of 13 from the floor in Game 4. Expect Dwight Howard to step up his play in this one as a game isn’t decided by a last-second shot for a change.

Betting online pick: Magic

Mavericks vs Spurs odds – Game 5 Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. ET

The Spurs odds are officially in serious jeopardy. Tony Parker and Tim Duncan combined for 68 of San Antonio’s 90 points Saturday while no other Spur topped seven; it’s really looking like the Spurs season is toast without Manu Ginobili. However, they remain a well-coached team and Gregg Popovich should motivate the sagging bench to turn in a better effort Tuesday as the Spurs stay alive – but not for long.

Betting online pick: Spurs

Rockets vs Blazers odds – Game 5 Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. ET

The Rockets probably have this series won, but that work was done when they stole Game 1 from Portland and got their road split. A second win at the Rose Garden in this series would probably be too much to ask. Brandon Roy remains as much a gamebreaker as ever and he was frustrated as Game 4 came down to the wire, getting called for a charge. Look for him to outdo himself with a Tour-de-Force performance at home as the Blazers stay alive in basketball betting.

Betting online pick: Trail Blazers

I have to agree with your pick on the 76ers/Magic game. Philly is doing everything humanly possible to hang in this series, while the Magic have hardly seemed to break a sweat. Take Orlando big in Tuesday’s game
