Monday NBA odds: Nuggets at Rockets
Team records:
Denver: 45-21 SU, 31-30-5 ATS
Houston: 33-31 SU, 29-35 ATS
Denver is one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now, but the Rockets have picked up their play recently. They meet Monday night in Houston, with the Nuggets a 3.5-point favorite at the sportsbook.
Matchup: Nuggets at Rockets
Time: 8:30 p.m. ET
Venue: Toyota Center
Spread: Nuggets -3.5
Over/Under: 215.5
The Nuggets (45-21, 31-30-5 ATS) are on fire. They’ve won six consecutive games after Saturday’s 125-108 demolition of Memphis and are on a 9-2 run in their past 11 games. Denver has been solid if unspectacular on NBA odds; the team is 5-3-2 against the spread in its past 10 outings, not to mention going 3-0-1 in its last four games.
The Nuggets have won back-to-back games on the road against the spread and are 5-2-3 ATS in their past 10 games away from home.
Denver’s offense has been fantastic during the six-game win streak by cranking out 116 points per game. Carmelo Anthony—who leads Denver at 28.5 points per game—finished atop the score sheet in four of those match ups. Veteran point guard Chauncey Billups has also been incredibly consistent lately; he’s scored at least 21 points in four straight outings.
Houston (33-31, 29-35 ATS) has won three of its last four games, including a 116-108 victory over the Nets on the weekend. The lone loss came in overtime on the road against Detroit. Those winning ways haven’t crossed over to the sportsbook, however. Houston has covered just four times in its last 10 games against NBA odds. Playing at home has been even worse, with the Rockets going 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games at the Toyota Center.
While not as explosive as Denver, the Rockets have played well on offense too. They’re averaging 107.8 points per game over their last four contests. Power forward Luis Scola has big a big reason for the step up in production.
The big man has exploded; despite averaging 15.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game on the year, he’s cranked out 26.2 points and 15.2 rebounds per game over his last five.
Denver and Houston have played an incredibly close series with each other over the past few seasons. They’ve split their last 10 games both straight up and against the spread. The Nuggets have had an edge this season, though, by winning and covering both match ups.
Nuggets vs. Rockets Free PICK
Denver looks pretty much unstoppable right now, at least on offense. The Rockets haven’t played well against the spread at home and they’ll have a hard time slowing down Carmelo and company.
Bet on the Nuggets.
