The Nuggets (39-20, 27-28-4 ATS) just had a three-game winning streak snapped after losing 95-89 to the Lakers.

NBA picks: Kobe, Lakers carrying momentum into Dallas

Team records:
Denver: 39-20 SU, 27-28-4 ATS
Phoenix: 37-24 SU, 35-25-1 ATS

Now, Bryant leads the Lakers into Dallas to face Caron Butler and the new-look Mavericks. Dallas is a slight favorite on NBA odds.

Matchup: Nuggets vs. Suns
Time: 9:00 p.m. ET
Venue: US Airways Center
Spread: Phoenix -2.5
Over/Under: 221

It was also the first time in four games Denver failed to cover; the push brings the team’s record to 5-3-2 against the spread in its last 10 games. Playing on the road doesn’t seem to make much of a different to the Nuggets, as their record is an identical 5-3-2 ATS in their past 10 games away from home.

Despite getting shutdown by the Lakers, Denver ranks second in the NBA in scoring at 107.4 points per game—trailing only Phoenix. Carmelo Anthony leads the team with 28.8 points per game, but Chauncey Billups has taken over recently. Before being held to 17 points against the Lakers, Billups notched a four-game stretch in which he averaged 29.0 points per outing. Defensively, Denver isn’t very good at 102.6 points per game. Before the loss to Los Angeles, the Nuggets had allowed at least 100 points in 10 of their past 11 games.

Phoenix (37-24, 35-25-1 ATS) just lost 113-110 in San Antonio, ending a string of five consecutive wins. The Suns have been good straight up, but they’ve been even better at the sportsbook—they’ve ripped off six straight victories against the spread and are a very impressive 8-2 in their last 10 games ATS. The Suns have covered their last four games at the US Airways Center and are 5-1 ATS in their past six home games. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Like Denver, Phoenix can run the scoreboard up in a hurry. Amare Stoudemire leads the team at 21.8 points per game and he dropped 41 in the loss to the Spurs. The Suns get scoring in all kinds of places, though, with six players averaging double figures. Steve Nash is second on the team (17.5 PPG) but leads Phoenix in assists at 11.2 per night. His back has been bothering him, though, and he was held to just eight points two games ago against the Clippers. At the other end of the floor, the Suns are a disaster. They’re second-last in points allowed, ahead of only Golden State. There are some signs of improvement, though—in three of its last six games, Phoenix has limited opponents to fewer than 100 points.

Nuggets vs. Suns – FREE PICK

Phoenix beat Denver 109-97 in early February, covering as a five-point underdog. It improved the Suns to 6-4 straight up and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against Denver. Both teams are playing fairly well right now, but Phoenix has been dominant against NBA odds.

As long as Nash’s back holds up, you can expect the Suns to cover.
