ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

The Heat are 12-3 on the season but have posted a record of just 4-2 on the road, while the Raptors can lay claim to a home record of just 3-4. Miami won the first meeting between these teams this season on Nov. 5, 104-95.

Miami’s most recent game was surely an emotional one for the team’s top player, as they beat the Cavaliers in Cleveland, 95-84.

LeBron James led all players in scoring in that one, hitting on nine of his 19 shots from the floor for 28 points, adding eight rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Dwyane Wade had himself a night as well, hitting on 10 of 14 shots for 22 points with four boards and three assists.

Chris Bosh had an off night, but the team got a solid performance out of Michael Beasley, who racked up a 17 and nine line in 26 minutes off the bench.

The top player in Cleveland Kyrie Irving scored 16 points, but was held to six of 19 shooting, while the Heat smothered the Cavaliers, limiting the team to 34.9 percent shooting from the floor.

As for Toronto, their last game was a major disappointment after a strange final play. The team got plenty of scoring from guards Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan.

DeRozan hit on nine of 15 shots from the floor including four of six shots from beyond the arc to up his shooting percentage to 51.5 percent in the last five games, scoring a game-high 27 points, while Lowry scored 24 and added six assists. However, forward Rudy Gay was limited to nine points on three of 12 shooting.

The point of contention came on the game’s final play when the team’s final shot went to big Amir Johnson for a three-point attempt. Johnson is hitting on just 25 percent of his threes on the year, and has attempted fewer than 50 three-pointers in his career.

While the Raptors can currently lay claim to the lowly Atlantic Division, the reality is that the team isn’t playing all that well, and find themselves running into a buzzsaw in the form of a red-hot Miami team that has won eight in a row overall, and 12 in a row in the series, winning those 12 by an average margin of 12.1 points.

Going on the road won’t hurt them either as the team is 25-10 ATS in their last 35 road games, and 5-0 ATS in their last five trips to Toronto.

The Heat are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings between these teams.

The play: Miami -6
