Miami Heat vs. Sacramento Kings Preview

The Heat (16-8) are starting to look like the team many thought they would be, as they have won 7 straight and recently overtook first place in the Southeast Division. To keep their winning streak alive they will have to beat a struggling Kings (5-15) squad that is coming off a win, but has lost 8 of their last 10 games.

In their last games the Heat killed the Golden State Warriors 106-84 on Friday night and the Kings looked impressive laying a 116-91 beat down on the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night.

This season the Kings are 3-9 at home and the Heat are 6-5 on the road. The Heat have won 5 of their last 6 games against the Kings in Sacramento and 12 of their last 13 against them overall.

Heading into this non-conference match up the Kings are 6-14 ATS and the Heat are 10-13 ATS.

In the win over the Warriors on Friday night Dwayne Wade scored 34 points with 9 boards and 7 assists and LeBron James had 25 points 9 dimes and 7 boards. In Miami’s 7-game winning streak these 2 have played great and it looks as if they have figured how to play together. King James stated after the game,

“Me and D-Wade have figured it out. We just started going back to our games, what made us who we are in this league. It’s resulted in us playing good basketball, offensively and defensively.”

The Kings are struggling though another losing season, but there is hope in Sacto with the 2 young up and coming stars of Tyreke Evens (17.1 ppg) and rookie DeMarcus Cousins (11.3 ppg 6.9 rpg). Still, Sacramento is not a high scoring team ranking 25th in the league in scoring and their D has been sketchy ranking 18th in opponents’ points per game.

Besides Evans and Cousins PG Beno Udrih (12.2 ppg) and PF Carl Landry (12 ppg) are the other 2 players for the Kings that are averaging in double figures. These guys have to score tonight against a tough Heat defense since their D is not very good. NBA Betting

It is not good for the other teams in the league that the Heat are clicking on offense, as their defense has been solid all season ranking 3rd in the league in opponents’ points allowed.

Evans is shooting under 40% from the floor this season and while he has an inflamed arch he will play against the Heat and he will need to have a good game for the Kings to win.

Sacramento will need a full team effort to beat the Heat, which would be their first win over a team this season that has a winning record.

Kings’ C Samuel Dalembert missed Wednesday’s game for personal reasons and the Kings will need him in this game. However, he is only averaging 4.7 ppg and 7.7 rpg and that is not the numbers the Kings envisioned when they traded for him since they are paying him over 13 million bucks a year.

With Miami coming to town the Kings hope they get another great effort from C Jason Thompson, who had season highs of 22 points and 14 rebounds in the Kings last win. Thomson and Samuel Dalembert have to man the boards and keep Udonis Haslem (8.2 rpg) and Chris Bosh (7.5 rpg) from dominating the glass.

The Kings forced the Wizards into 23 turnovers in their last win and held Washington to only 41.3% shooting and they will have to play with that type of defensive intensity tonight and if they do not there is not much of a chance for them to win this game.

Betting Trends

Miami has covered the spread in their last 4 road games, has covered the spread in their last 6 games overall, and has an Under record of 5-1 in their last 6 games against teams with a winning % below 40%.

Sacramento is 4-13 ATS in their last 17 games, 5-15 ATS in their last 20 home games, and has an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games facing teams with a winning record.

The Heat have covered the spread in 6 of their last 7 games against the Kings in Sacramento.

Pick: At time of writing there is not a line, but whatever it is you can be sure the Heat will be favored. The Kings are simply not a good team and the Heat are finally starting to come together. Take the Heat to cover in this game.
