Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs NBA Preview

In Game 1 of this Western Conference playoff series the top-seed Spurs take on the 8th seed Grizzlies and these 2 teams split the season series with each team winning twice on their home court.

In their last games of the season the Spurs lost to the Phoenix Suns 106-103 and the Grizzlies lost to the L.A. Clippers 110-103.

This season both teams were solid betting ones with the Grizzlies at 52-29-1 ATS and the Spurs at 44-36-2 ATS.

Both teams lost their last 2 games of the season and the Spurs are only 4-6 in their last 10 games while the Grizzlies are 6-4 in their last 10.

This season the Spurs are 36-5 at home and the Grizzlies are 16-25 on the road. NBA Betting

The loss to the Suns in the Spurs’ finale was costly, as the Bulls have the best record in the NBA and will have home court throughout the playoffs and Manu Ginobili (17.6 ppg) hurt his elbow and even though x-rays were negative he is questionable for this game.

Even though Ginobili, Tony Parker, and Tim Duncan saw a lot of pine time in the last couple of games the San Antonio offense has been on fire to end the season. In their last 5 games they averaged 105.6 ppg. However, they will have to shore up their D, which did not play well in their last 2 losses. Their defense is key, as in both of their losses to the Grizzlies this season Memphis scored at least 109 points in each game.

The key player in this game for Memphis has to be PF Zach Randolph (20.1 ppg 12.2 rpg), as he has to score and hit the boards in this game. If the Spurs can bottle him up inside they will take Game 1. The backcourt of Mike Conley (13.7 ppg) and 6th man O.J. Mayo (11.3 ppg) have to score and help Randolph out on offense.

Even with Ginobili a question mark the Spurs will come out and play well at home in this game. This is especially the case on defense, as the Grizzlies will not crack the 100-point barrier for the 3rd time in a row against San Antonio.

Betting Trends

San Antonio is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games and they did not cover the spread in their last 3 games. Memphis is 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games and in their last 3 games the total has gone Over every time.

Pick: Spurs
