Orlando travels to the Wachovia Center for the first time since they knocked the 76ers out of the playoffs last year in the first round. The Magic need a win to keep pace with Cleveland in the East while Philly is looking win two home games in a row for the second time this season.

The Magic come into this one having won three out of their last four and seven of their last 10. They are currently 40-20, six games behind Cleveland in the conference and two games in front of Atlanta is the Southeast division. There is quite a bit of talent on this team, but by head coach Stan Van Gundy’s own admission Dwight Howard’s performance is the key to their success. The Magic are 19-5 when Howard scores 20 points or more. In Gundy’s own words “He (Howard) has to be absolutely dominant for us to win”. Through 60 games he is averaging 18.6 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. The second leading scorer is Vince Carter who is averaging 16.3 and Jameer Nelson is averaging 12.2 points and 5.2 assists per game. In their last game, a 96-80 romp over in state rival Miami Howard was actually held to just seven points but Rashard Lewis picked up the slack scoring a game high 22 points to lead Orlando.

The 76ers chances for making the postseason looked promising after winning five straight back in early February but since then they have dropped five out of their last seven and find themselves 22-36, 6 ½ game in back of Charlotte for the final playoff spot. With only 24 games left to play it will be a tall task to close that large of a gap. In their last game they gave the Lakers all they could handle in a 90-99 loss. They led by one at the half and only trailed by five at the end of three quarters but were unable to close the gap in the end. Samuel Dalembert led the Sixers with 24 points and 11 rebounds and Thaddeus Young added 13 points off the bench, but the result was similar to many of their games this season; a day late and a dollar short. One bright spot for Philadelphia has been the play of G Lou Williams, who has replaced Allen Iverson in the starting lineup. In his last three games he has averaged over 20 points per game.

With Cleveland starting to pull away in the East and Atlanta breathing down their neck in the division, Orlando cannot afford to lose a game to a team they should be able to easily beat. Philadelphia is just as bad at home as they are on the road with a 12-19 record in the Wachovia Center. Look for Howard to have a big night and for the Magic to win going away.
