The Boston Celtics will tip off against the Miami Heat in what may well turn out to be a preview of this year’s Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday afternoon.

Boston has shown it’s the best team in basketball when it’s healthy, but it’s not right now.

The defending champs of the East, got beat at home Thursday night by the Lakers 92-86, scoring just 33 points in the second half, and have now lost three of their last four games. Los Angeles spoiled Ray Allen’s 20-point performance as the surefire Hall of Famer set the all-time record for three-point shots surpassing Reggie Miller’s all-time trey record of 2,560 by two. Allen seems to be having one of his best seasons at age 35 and his 46 percent three-point pace this year is by far a career high.

Miami meanwhile, is heating up, and pushed their win streak to eight to move into sole possession of first place in the East with a 106-92 win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night.

Dwyane Wade scored 24 points and LeBron James added 16 points and 10 assists.

The Celts and Heat met twice earlier this season, and Boston won both games. These teams opened their seasons back in October at the new Garden, the Celtics coming away with an 88-80 victory. Two weeks later Boston won in Miami 112-107. The Celtics shot a combined 51 percent from the floor in those two games, including 17-for-32 from 3-point range, while holding the Heat to 43 percent shooting.

However, the Heat were still trying to find their chemistry during those first two encounters, and now  have now gone 30-6 since starting the season 9-8. They lead the league in FG defense, holding opponents to less than 43 percent shooting, and rank second in FG shooting, sinking better than 47 percent from the field as a team.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Heat -Miami will need to keep Boston’s Ray Allen in check because in those two Celtics victories over the Heat, Allen hit 12-for-17 from long range. Meanwhile, Boston will need forward Kevin Garnett, who went four for 13 against the Lakers, to step it up. With the Celtics thin up front, they desperately need production from Garnett, but even so, it’s still not going to be enough to beat the Heat.

One reply on “NBA Predictions: Heat vs. Celtics Free Betting Preview”

Miami still lost with the Celtics’ Paul Pierce having his worst game in recent memory and without Marquis, Delonte, Shaq, Jermaine, and Semih. And with Nate and Perkins playing limited minutes. There’s no way the Heat will beat the Celtics in a 7-game series. If the Celtics are healthy, no team will be able to stand in their way. Heck, even when they’re injured they still find ways to get wins. The rest of the league should be very worried.
