Blake Griffin and the Clippers did what the Lakers couldn’t-beat the Heat.
Now the Lakers will try to steal their thunder when they meet their JV counterpart in another battle for Los Angeles in what technically is a home game for the Clippers, but we all know that Lakers fans are going to flood the Staples Center come Sunday afternoon.
While the Lakers have been playing solid nearly the entire season as expected, the Clippers are a surprise, and despite a 13-24 record, are playing some awesome basketball as of late.
They’ve won eight of their past 11, with wins over some very good teams like the Nuggets, Bulls and of course, Miami. Leading scorer and future All-Star in Eric Gordon (23.7 PPG) has done a good job leading the way while Griffin, who is having one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory this year after missing all of last year with a severe injury, is throwing down some monster jams. 
Los Angeles of course, is continuing its dominance in the West, and is led by none other than former MVP, Kobe Bryant who doesn’t seem to be slowing down in his quest for another Championship ring. It helps that Bryant has some of the best supporting members in the league surrounding him in the likes of Pau Gaol, Lamar Odom, and Ron Artest. It isn’t difficult to figure out that each one of these players helps to make their teammates better, and it is guys with versatility like Gasol and Odom that makes the Lakers such a dangerous team to play against.
It will be very interesting to see if Gordon can keep up his surging scoring pace against the Lakers, while Griffin’s effectiveness could be minimized against the very talented Gasol.
However, be aware that the Lakers might very well be setting themselves up for a big letdown if they do not get to the Clippers early and often in this game. The Clippers are a team that likes to hang around and cause problems for opposing teams. This should be a good test for the Lakers who has won six in a row and has won eight of their past nine.
The last time these two teams played, the Lakers got a last second shot by Fisher for an 87-86 victory.
I think these teams will be trading buckets all the way to the final buzzer, but I just don’t think the Clippers have the bench that the Lakers do, which is why Los Angeles should win this one in the end.
